Spinach: Measure B4 or after cooking? Veg or lettuce?

  • I've been eating a 10 oz bag of spinach cooked in micro for 2 mins. Is that enough to satisfy 2 cups of veggies? Before cooking it's packed 4 cups. After cooking, it's like not even a cup.

Does spinach even count as veggies or is it "lettuce"?

From what I have read on here and what I personal do myself is measure spinach BEFORE it is cooked so really, the 10 oz bag you had would count as 4 cups. It is also considered a veggie NOT lettuce.

    Hope this helps!
  • Mom is correct, you measure it BEFORE you cook it and it is not lettuce. It is one of your veggies to count
  • Here's a link that someone posted at some point, I find it very useful, it allows you to convert cups to grams (you'd need to have a kitchen scale of course)

And as everyone said, spinach does count towards your veggies.
