fun thread! your favorite zero to fifty calorie treat!

  • Hi all! What is your favorite thing you consider a treat that contains between zero and fifty calories? I have two:

Hansen's diet creamy root beer - zero cals, and it is frothy, sweet, and super good!

Laughing Cow light wedges - thirty five cals, and a delicious spread (or treat on it's own!)

Let's share! And have a happy (and spooky!) weekend!
  • These are perfect for Halloween!! I'm also making these for Thanksgiving. However I'll be frosting them which will add a lot more calories, but they make wonderful muffins also.

I wish I could just link you to the recipe but since I'm new I can't post links, and I'm not sure if it would be considered spam anyways. So I'll just copy and paste it. This recipe was intended for cupcakes but it makes really good muffins too. If you can come up with a good, low cal frosting that would makes these awesome. I make them as treats with cream cheese frosting but that has a lot of calories in it.

I recommend that if you make these for just you, freeze them!! Wrap them up nicely and individually and stick them in the freezer. Otherwise you'll be tempted to go back for another one. Just take one out a little while before you want it and let it thaw. Or pack it with your lunch and use it as an ice pack and then by mid-afternoon it'll be thawed for perfect snack.

  • Leah - great idea! Yum! I'll have to try them!
  • lite apple sauce

comes prepacked in 50 cal cups
  • LovelyLeah - oh my gosh! I want to try those! I've been looking for low-calorie treats to cook for my family for thanksgiving

    My favorite treats are:

Diet Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate - 25 cals per serving

Crystal Light Iced Tea - 10 cals per serving

    Diet Coke - 0 cals

I also portion out chips, crackers and other snacks to ~50 cal servings when I get the craving for some
  • Sugar free jello (always raspberry in my case!). The whole box only has 20 calories. I make it with a little less water and double up the servings (10 calories each).
  • Dried figs or dates, or putting dried dates (w/o seed) in the food processor and mixing it with dried coconut flakes (unsweetened). Tastes like a little, healthy gourmet treat.

Otherwise I usually just have a small apple. Sounds boring, but I find apples are addictive. You start to crave them....
