I'm now planning my look... in ADVANCE?!

  • Hey chicks

So, it's half term week, which as I currently work in a school, means I get the week off. Anyway, I've been thinking a bit today (see sig!), and so I've planned a productive day for tomorrow - dropping stuff off at the charity shop, going into town to buy a couple of things, and stopping in at the local college (if I can) to get a haircut. (Nothing radical, just a trim. I'm trying to grow my hair back to its old length.)

And the weird thing (for me) is, I've planned my appearance for tomorrow, today! I painted my nails tonight, I've thought out my outfit for tomorrow, chosen shoes to co-ordinate, I've decided to wear my hair down, and have narrowed jewelry down to a choice between a couple of my favourite necklaces.

This is really unusual for me, unless there's a special occasion to really dress up for. As I work in a school (a strict one), I always wear black trousers, plain/sensible shoes and a smart top to work, because it makes me feel more professional. (It's also hard to tell off a pupil about their uniform if your skirt is shorter than theirs!) Likewise, I don't wear nail varnish at school, because part of my job is getting students to remove their nail polish and make up.
At home, I generally only wear really sloppy casual stuff, partly as a kind of antidote to having to look so smart at work. (My wardrobe is basically separated into "work" clothes and "my" clothes. )

But I feel GOOD for having planned this in advance. I used to wonder how my sister looks so good *every* day. Now having thought about it, I think it's because she puts that time in, in advance, to make sure her outfit pulls together and her hair's done the way she wants - the complete opposite to my "shove on the clothes and pull hair back into a pony tail" method.

Today I'm just thinking though... I put effort into my appearance for work, so why don't I put the effort in for me? Surely I'm worth that.

Sorry for the ramble chicks, it's just something I've been thinking about today.
  • I totally understand what you're saying! You are developing a new improved self confidence with every pound you lose. That is fantastic and you deserve it. Having a good self image really helps keeps you motivated to continue your weight loss.
Since your work clothing needs to be so stern, and dare I say a bit dull, have some fun with the other clothes you shop for. Bright cherry colors, something really feminine or maybe a bit sexy even! Enjoy the emerging new you!
  • I just wanted to say I can't wait until I get to where you are now, being excited about planning your attire in advance. Enjoy it and keep doing it! You remind me of a song called "I Enjoy Being A Girl."
