What Do You Hate Most About Going Out With Your Skinny Friends

  • Hey girls, Hope everyone is great! because I know I am (I lost 5 pounds). This is a question I'm curious about. The thing that I hate most about going out with my skinny friends is that guys look at me like I'm see thru.
  • Ehh... when I had skinny friends they all lived several hundred miles away in a different country (when I was in europe), or I was the most outgoing one of the group (and I'm pretty restrained and shy most of the time... ). So I don't have any "hate" with that.

In fact... I'm finding that the more I lose weight... the more I realize that my friends and my weight never once held me back from anything. I myself was holding me back.

But... that's just what I've found.
  • Going out and thinking i look pretty good at the time... then seeing the photos appear on facebook the next day and realising i look like a giant compared to my friends! :-(
  • This applies to me especially this week because I'm going out with some skinny girls this weekend. The thing that bugs me the most is having to restrain myself from eating the way they are. I want the shrimp in bacon cream sauce but there's no way that's going to happen. So I'll have my salad and a glass of wine and just suck it up.
  • Waking up with a massive hang over the next day!
  • I use them to teach me how to "think" skinny and as long as none of them are blonde ;P im ok

    Agreed

    ^ This!!

    LOL!!
  • What I have learned:

The older you get, the more you mature, the less you care about comparisons of your "skinny" friends. In fact, it becomes non-issue.

What IS an issue?? ...you worry more about wrinkles, age spots, and turkey neck.

(Ohdeargod! it's a shame I find that amusing!!!!)
  • Going shopping with them- walking into a store with clothes that will never fit me and feeling like the literal elephant in the room.

Agreed! I find it fascinating the way people with no weight issue view and interact with food. It gives me a good point of reference for my own behaviour.
  • Ugh.. All my friends are size 2s. No joke.. My wedding gown was a size 14 and all the bridesmaids were size 2!!!!

I have to say that my biggest issue was guys (before hubby). My best friend is a 5'8 blonde with terrific legs. I'm a stubby 5'3 at 180. I truly felt that guys overlooked me. It was a major blow to my self-esteem.
  • Skinny people go on diets too... My best friend from a few years ago in high school was a dancer. So she had the "dancer's" diet. which is similar to my friend's "fit into a size xs from a size s" diet: a piece of toast a day and nothing else for a week -_- inspiring tho...and comforting mostly. Everyone diets - that, or they want to
  • My friends really aren't skinny. I do have a cousin (who is in the same group of friends) who is fairly thin. I am sure men look at my friends while ignoring me because we dress entirely different. They wear super short dresses with their cleavage showing and what we call "stripper heels". I like to be covered everywhere and I never wear heels. So..big difference there already. Actually, maybe people do look at me and wonder why I dress so "weird"? I don't know. I am not interested in being ogled by men.

I do have a friend with AWESOME legs. I wish I had legs like hers but I remind myself that she is super short too and if I want legs like hers I will just have to work for them. She wishes she had my waist so we're even.
