Confused about my numbers.

  • 2 weeks ago I had gallbladder surgery. Since then I have been much more relaxed about my eating and have been making a series of bad choices on the weekends. I am also breastfeeding. Since surgery I have lost 9.5 pounds. I am not even sure how. I got on the scale like 20 times to make sure it was right. I'm really confused by this. I thought it all came down to calories in verse calories out. I was actually hoping to see the number stay the same or even go up to motivate me to get it together. And this past weekend there was an incident with cake. Half of the cake. I know regardless of what the scale says that I need to be making better food choices. I just need some extra motivation. My sick mind is now thinking I can binge every weekend and it won't effect my loss. Any help or experience with eating bad food and still seeing a loss and getting back on the healthy food track would be greatly appreciated.
  • Your comment on the cake incident made me LOL!

Weight gain can be a symptom of gallbladder disease, so that could be one reason for the massive loss. Plus also consider inflammation, which is connected to overweight. Perhaps removing the sick organ and your body being able to recover and heal lead to the loss.

Enjoy it and don't blow it! You're 9.5 pounds ahead, even with half a cake! Don't wait until you gain before you get back on track!! Then you'll be kicking yourself!
  • I went on a diet years ago and got to goal, I thought I would be able to maintain by dieting during the week and eating anything on weekends. Big mistake....I ended up regaining all I had lost and added several more. At goal I still have to count calories and still plan all meals if I want to stay at goal and I do.
