Unexpected inspiration!

  • I go to the gym at the same time daily and naturally you see a lot of the same people there everyday. I'm a put the ear buds in, work hard, sweat hard exerciser... not social gym goer. Despite my antisocial vibe, a few weeks ago this old man waved me down just to say hi and I was polite enough and said hi back and was on my way. Naturally this turned into a daily hello.

So here is the oddly amusing part... I'm walking by today and he calls me over and says "Man look at that body, I think it gets better everyday!" I was naturally taken back because commenting one someones figure like that is a bit creepy to say the least. I didn't want to make a scene so shrugged it off and said I'll be sure to thank the treadmill for the help. Walking away I was a little steamed but about five minutes into my run I felt so good and had one of my best runs ever!

Anyone else recently get a shove in the right direction?
  • I don't get that from anyone. I'm sure it keeps you motivated when someone you don't know is checking you out daily but it's also a little creepy.
  • Well, I guess the his and hers age ratio would decide the level of creepiness, lol.

Despite that, it's nice to get a compliment and to know that your hard work is showing!
  • Hahah I love it!! I was in the gym today and I had a woman walk in in FULL business gear. Nice blouse, nice pants, cute shoes.. she stepped on the stair stepper for a few minutes. then the bike. then got some water and left. It made me pedal a little harder while I was in there.. because I thought 1) if I pedal harder I will look better in front of this woman haha 2) maybe I can be an inspiration to her and she will come back tomorrow in proper attire. I want to look good for myself and my husband. But i won't be mad if I get compliments from other people.
  • A little creepy..but nice at the same time
Maybe it was just an innocent remark on his part.
In any case: Good for you!
  • There's a 70-something year old man that talks to me at the gym daily. One day he walked over while I was running on the treadmill and said, "Wow, you are getting so thin! Go girl" I started there in March, 8 weeks after having a baby, so it made me feel good.
