Help me!

  • Hello, My name is Brittany and I'm new here.

I really need some motivation to get my butt into gear. I am 19 and 207 pounds. a year and a half ago I got a bunch of motivation and decided to change my life. I lost 30 pounds and felt GREAT! but.. Then fell off the band wagon.. Well more like fell tumbled rolled haha. I need help !

What are a few things that have helped all of you ?
  • Give yourself two weeks. 14 days of strict diet, constant exercise, and focused mind. Just make little changes, but make sure you stick to them.
    Soda to Water
    Whole Milk to Skim
White to Whole wheat ( carbs only before 4)
    No eating at night
    Drink a lotttttt of water
    Eat more fruits and veggies

    Do 30 of cardio everyday
Do this for 2 weeks and you'll lose about 6-9 lbs, which is what is going to help motivate you to continue losing weight. I know myself, if I dont see results fast I struggle. So this is what I do. Maybe if you see the results fast you'll be more motivated to stick to it.

P.S I don't know how to post threads. I just joined 3FC last night and Ive been trying to figure it out but I cant
  • That's great advice!
Post threads like I did? Or create an entire new one?
  • Remember that bottom line is: calories in vs calories out. Don't get bogged down in all the other stuff that diet pills, websites, infomercials on fad exercise equipment, and other advertisers try to tell you.

It actually doesn't matter if you eat whole milk or skim milk. It's a good method for cutting calories, but it in and of itself is not going to make you lose weight. Whole milk has more calories than skim, but what matters ultimately is that at the end of the day you reduce the number of calories. If you drink skim milk but eat too many calories overall you will gain, just as if you drink whole milk but eat under the number of calories your body needs each day, you will lose.

I think the previous poster is suggesting not to eat carbohydrates after 4 PM? Please don't worry about the timing of when you eat food. This is a dietary myth that has been thoroughly debunked. Happy to share resources on that information if you need it.

What ACTUALLY makes you lose weight is eating fewer calories than your body uses every day. All this means sensible portions and getting some sort of activity in (going for walks, riding a bike) when you can.

Start with that- it'll likely yield results
  • Hi Brittany!

Take some time to look around this site any you might find something that peaks your interest. There are so many ways to go about losing weight.

For me, I'm moving more and eating less. The simpler I keep it, the more success I'll find. If I moved into a "diet" that restricted me a lot, then I fall of the wagon much easier and will binge. Knowing what my downfalls like that helps. I'm using MyFitnessPal to track my food, water, and exercise. They have a Blackberry app so it's always with me.

Also, I'm an Oregonian at heart. We moved away 8 years ago and it's still home to me. We had fog and rain for the last two days, which is a little unusual. Reminds me of Oregon. lol

Right now I am trying to detox my body a little bit because off all the awful things I have put into it the past few months. So I am making fruit smoothies no sugar pure fruit and alots of ice hehe. So I am thinking 3 days of that for every meal should help me get my energy back! plus they are soo yummy! I love fruit!

Lisa! Thanks for the warm welcome!
