WTH Progresso Soups????

  • Progresso Light Clam Chowder says 1 point on the can, so for 2 servings (the whole can) it should be 2 points, right? Oh, ****, no! Put it in my calculator and it's 6 points!!!!! I am so angry right now for deceptive advertising.
  • Woah!

Well, first of all, Points don't always add up as 1+1 = 2, but rarely have I seen 1 point jump up to more than or 4 after adding another serving.

    Six?!

Would you be able to do us a favor and post all the nutritional information?
  • Did a little sleuthing online:

If that's an old can, it might still say 1 point on it (as in the old points system), but it actually now (on their site) boasts 2 pointsplus for one serving.

Added to that, I put in the information for 2 servings, and it comes out to 5 pointsplus for the whole can. (4 Fat, 36 carbs, 8 fiber, 6 protein)

    I hope that helps!
  • The info on the can is as follows:
    For whole can:
    Fat 5
    Carb 40
    Fiber 8
    Protein 6

    PP 6

Apparently this was an old can, but geez! I almost had a heart attack. Lesson learned, use your calculator and confirm!!!!

That is definitely a LOT to jump up, yes!
  • It's no clam chowder, but my go to soup for WW is Campbell's Select Harvest Light vegetable soup with pasta. 1pp per cup and pretty good!

I was cleaning out my cabinets the other day and I had a soup in there and I'm pretty sure that was the one! I'll have to check when I get home from work
  • Sure can be deceptive when you have more than one serving! Did the can say "1 point per serving" or did it say points plus? I have a couple lean cuisines in my freezer and they read "points plus" so I think manufacturers have updated their counts if they print the WW info.
  • If it's a blue diamond it's the new points plus system. The manufacturers have updated packaging, but not all grocery stores have rotated in the new product, especially for canned goods that have a longer shelf life.
