Question about broccoli..

  • how often is it allowed? and cauliflower also?? I thought these veggies were high in carbs, but my list of food doesnt say anything about either being limited.
  • You are allowed up to 4 cups a day. In Phase 1 they prefer you to eat it as 2 cups at 2 different meals... but my coach says as long as I get in my 4 cups a day she is happy.

    There are no other restrictions with broccoli and cauliflower.
  • You can have either as much as you like but if you have issues with carbs then I would only stick to them once or twice a week. When I first started that is all I ate then I started trying the yellow squash and zuchinni and venturing to other veggies. I have my "cold" veggies (pickled okra, cucumbers) at lunch and my cooked veggies at night.
  • when i was on phase one, one week i didn't lose any weight. my coach looked over my food journal and asked why i was eating so much broccoli. she said that broccoli is great because it is full of nutrients, but that i shouldn't eat it so much because of the high carb content. we decided that i shouldn't eat it more than twice a week. this might be a good rule of thumb for you too. if you eat it often and you find that your losses are slowing, you might want to cut back on your broccoli intake.
