  • Hi Jan,
Just checking in. have been busy cleaning up my sisters house and still have to go back on Wed for an appt and more clearing out. We may already have a buyer for the house!

Have just been maintaining with my weight, but count that as a good thing! Hopefully I will be back on program soon.
there are so many new names here! I'll have some catching up to do! Welcome to all !

I have a busy 2 days at home again, have to get the dog to the vet and get RX's refilled etc....but am taking time out for a pedicure today! I deserve a break!

  • JOYce, way to go on maintaining! I'm glad things are working out re: the house; how fortunate to have found a potential buyer already! I think it's wonderful that you are taking a little time out for yourself to get a pedicure; enjoy! You certainly do deserve it, and much more.

Not much happening here. DH is out back getting some cattle back from the neighbor's pasture, where they apparently wanted to visit their pals. If he's not too tired after that, we'll go for a walk together, or I'll do the treadmill at Dad's while dinner cooks. (That routine is working out pretty well on these cold days. This weekend, though, we're supposed to get back in the 70's!!)

I'm thinking about applying to be a WW leader. They're starting some new training classes in March, but I have no idea if they're during the school day (when I can't possibly go) or what the deal is. I've heard that you have to first become a receptionist, and I don't think I'd be very good at that. Their system looks like an accounting nightmare, and I'm hopeless with accounting stuff, even though I majored in math at UT. Isn't that odd? I love theory, and solving equations, but putting the right figure in the right box and filing papers correctly drives me batty. I guess I could do it if I just focused.

Anyway, I'll probably wait until after next week to actually apply. I have to give a talk next Tuesday and a half day workshop Friday, both in Austin at the state conference. I love doing that kind of stuff, but there's still lots of prep work to do, plus we're busy at school getting kids' web pages and movies ready for contests.

Sorry to be so long-winded! Hope everyone's week is off to a great start!

    Regards,
    Jan
  • Hi Bandit! Hope you don't mind that I'm moving your post to the new thread:

    POST FROM BANDIT FOLLOWS:
    Hi everyone:

    Congrats Nascar! Good for you.

Saskiemom: Yes, going to a different was fun. Get some new perspective from other speakers & members.

I was down 1.4# last night, so that was good. My goal for January was 5# & so far I am down 5.2#. So it is nice when you reach your personal goals.

Yesterday for lunch I triled the Lean Cuisine Grilled Chicken Caesar (6 Pts) and really like it. Very filling & yummy.

Anything new out there? Bye for now & remember:

Keep drinking that water & counting those points.

  • Hi Bandit! Way to go on the 1.4 loss, and especially on reaching your goal for January; that is terrific! Thanks for the reco on the Lean Cuisine; will look for that one.

Not much happening down here. Busy at work, and getting ready for next week. It has been pretty cold, but we're supposed to get into the high sixties later today, and have a nice weekend.

Hope everybody's week is off to a great start!

    Regards,
    Jan
  • Janet I think you would be a marvelous WW leader!
You are so 'in tune' with the whole program, and are so encouraging to anyone involved! Too bad you would have to go thru all the 'paperwork stuff' first!
We've had beautiful days this week, I appreciate them even more after spending so much time inthe foggy, dreary San Joaquin Valley this month! Sunshine is GOOD!
I'm heading that way again today (with pretty feet) pedicures are nice! What a treat!

Bandit Thanks for the reminder to drink water...I always forget and grab a soda. I have a case of bottled water in the truck for this next trip. Having it at hand is more than half the battle for me.

  • JOYce, thanks for the encouragement! I do really like the program, and I enjoy teaching; being a leader would be a little like teaching, I guess. I wish I had your experience teaching adults, though! Hope you have a safe trip to the Valley! Way to go on stocking up on the water! (I need to drink more water too; thanks for the reminder, Bandit!

Hope everyone is having a good week! Stop in and say hi ...

  • Hi Janet Mae & Bandit2! Thanks for the encouragement! Way to go Bandit for exceeding your monthly goal!!!
Well I guess after being sick etc, I slowed down on the WL I lost .4 this week; at least it's still coming off! Gotta start exercising though I think this will make a big difference!

JanetMae I think you will be excellent as a WW leader. I don't think you have to be a receptionist first; at least that's the impression I have gotten from what my leader has said. You have to be lifetime I think and then after the maintenance period I think you can be a leader.

It's been raining here in GA today. I'm off tomorrow! yea! I gotta start getting my tax stuff together though

I need a good, sweet, low point recipe. I'm wanting something sweet. Any ideas?

Everyone take care and have a great weekend!! I'll try to check in tomorrow!
  • Hi Nascar Girl! Way to go on the half pound lost; no such thing as a "small" loss, you know, steady and sure wins the race. And I agree, a little exercise does seem to speed things up, and really helps change your metabolism too. Re: something sweet, my favorite dessert is a Chocolate Amaretto Cheesecake (I think the recipe is here under desserts) from the WW Simply the Best cookbook. I make it when I have company coming. 2 pts a slice. Also, the Miss Meringue cookies are great; 4 big ones for 2 pts, or 10 little ones for 1 pt! They come in lots of flavors, and were on sale at Target last time I was there.

Gotta run! Conference period is almost over. TGIF; this has been a long week!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Anyone have any special plans?

  • Hi everyone:

I agree with Jan - any loss is a great one. For me, as long as I see some kind of loss (even -.2) it keeps me motivated. Some weeks I think I have been OK then have a gain (even a little one) & I get down about it.

I have to get more exercise as well. This week I shovelled snow for 1/2 hr & get 2 swims in - so that is an improvement for me.

As far as something sweet - I like the angel food/pineapple cake. I like that with a cup of tea awhile after supper.

Jan, I will have to try the cheesecake recipe - sounds yummy.

Remember: Keep drinking that water & counting ALL your points.

    Bye for now
  • Bandit, glad you reminded me about that pineapple angel food cake; I haven't made that in a while, and it's really good!

I hope everyone is having a peaceful Sunday. I'm still a little stunned about the shuttle accident; how awful, and what a loss, all those wonderful astronauts.

Went out of town on a museum tour yesterday with ladies from our church, which was fun and not too bad program-wise. Did a coupla miles before sunset, and ran around the gym this morning, so I'm feeling energized. Have lots to do to get ready for next week, as I'm going to Austin Tuesday and Friday to give tech. workshops. Guess I'd better get back to work!

JOYce, hope you had a safe trip to the valley, and that the weather cooperated!

    Regards,
    Jan
  • Hi - was down 1# last night for a total of 6.2# since starting to post on this site

    Keep up the good work.
