1st week of IP?

  • I started the IP program on 9/2 and have been following it to the T.
I began at 134 lbs at 5 feet tall; I am eating all the veggies/ IP Foods and drinking 9 cups water daily. I have been "regular" too, but so far I am not seeing any changes in the weigh scales.
From what I've read, the 1st week is when the biggest drop happens and from then on, the weight loss is not as dramatic. My next weigh in on 9/8 and I worry that if I do not see a few lbs melt away "miraculously" over the next 3 days, that I might not be motivated enough to continue the program.
Has anyone else felt this way?
  • This is only my opinion and I say this in the nicest way possible, not trying to be mean so please do not think I am....

First of all, you probably don't have a lot of weight to lose so you may not have a big loss the first week.

Second, stay away from the scale, that is putting stress on you when you don't see the numbers dropping and can hold your back.

Third, do not compare yourself to anyone on the board, everyone is different and we all lose different. Some of us lose slow, some on medication, some exercise, these all affect people different that is why you must never compare yourself to anyone.

Fourth, your body takes time to get rid of the pounds and inches. You may not have a lot of water weight that could be why you aren't seeing a loss at this time. The first week is mostly water weight most of the time. Is it time for your period? if so that could be an issue as well.

Fifth, do not get discouraged over the first week of this program. Its like everything takes a few weeks sometimes to see a difference. The program works, sometimes it just takes longer for others.

If you have been reading the boards at all you can see that there are a few of us like Bellamack, Watkat, patns, just to name a few that have been struggling to lose weight and a couple of them have only lost a few pounds a month but they keep going because they know it will come off eventually.

Again, I am not telling you this to be mean or rude. Good luck to you and I wish you the best, also hope you stick with it for more than a week.

  • Thank you Lisa!

I think that's what i will do, not see the scales until my next weigh in.
My period is due anytime now, so that can be the cause as well. I will see how it goes for the next few weeks, before making any decisions.

I know some weigh daily but I ONLY weigh in on my official days, like that if I haven't loss I won't know anything until that day and if I did lose it will be a surprise!!!!.... Otherwise it would stress me out. If TOM is to appear at anytime now, you may have a small WI but your next one should be a little higher as well.
  • The weight does seem to come off slower the less you have to lose. I have 10 lbs to go and it is taking forever in comparison with my initial loss. Hang in there!
  • Hi Hope - Please stay with it. If you stay on plan, you will see results. The advice Wuv gave you is 100% accurate.

If you are expecting your period that can definitely impact your loss. I have found that I am more affected by my TOM since being on IP then before.

Stick with it, read these posts and keep going!! If you have not read the 'sticky' threads go through them. There is so much information I think it might help you.
