Atkins vs. South Beach

  • Does anyone know the diffrence???
  • From what I understand, Atkins limits carbs to around 30g per day while South Beach doesn't have a limit but the menus show around 100g per day. I haven't counted out the menus, this is just something I read and, sorry, can't remember where.

Personally, on South Beach I liked the food and did well but I still felt somehow hungry or deprived. When I fell off the wagon I had a very hard time getting back on and then eventually gave up. On Atkins I have had off plan times but have managed to get back on without feeling like I would have to give up a lot and be hungry. I know you aren't supposed to be hungry on South Beach, but I guess it is that the cravings didn't disappear completely for me. On Atkins they have.

I was thinking yesterday that if I were to draw it, I'd show my South Beach experience as me rock climbing, hanging by my nails, trying to get to my goal. On Atkins I have a ladder. I feel like I really will get there this time.

Hope that helps a bit, or at least gives you another area to investigate.
  • Southbeach is a little higher carb and lower fat. I had a hard time sticking to south beach & I didn't feel like the cravings dissapeared either like they do on atkins.
I tried southbeach then moved to atkins, I lost about 45lbs on atkins before getting pregnant 2x and gaining most of it back.
