  • How does everyone fit in their salt for lunch? I have no problem putting the salt on cooked vegetable when I have time to cook them but not really sure what to do when I have raw veggies for lunch?

    Any suggestions are welcome!
  • I put my salt on everything....ha...I even put it in my pudding to cut down the sweetness.

Do you use the IP salt or any sea salt?

I just think that 1/4tsp for lunch is a lot when I'm not used to having salt in my diet.

Honestly, I don't put it sometimes in my meal. I use the Real Sea Salt that you do get from IP. Sometimes I don't get ALL of the salt it recommends but I do try to get it in as much as possible.

That's what I am using as well. Thanks for the honesty!
  • Sort of along the same lines on this; I have seen several posts from people thinking they will leave the program because the packages foods are "sodium laden." It seems strange to me that anyone making weight loss foods would pile on the sodium. But I can't judge what is a reasonable amount. I get the packets individually so often do not have the box with the nutritional info printed on it. The boxes I do have are not the actual ones from the packets I have. On the few boxes I do have the sodium content is listed between 160 -170 mg. On my cupboard shelves I have regular (non IP) "low sodium" soups. The sodium is listed on those labels as 640 mg. So IP does not seem bad but I don't know what a good level is.

I do take the full allotment of sea salt because I have low blood pressure and all the water intake doesn't help that.

  • I believe recommend salt intake is 1200 to 1800mg per day depending on the person, age, health, and activity levels.

We need more salt because you to lose sodium on a ketogenic diet.
  • I totally agree. I have no problem having the salt. I am just tired of having it the same way on salad with some vinegar.
  • I add a little to my water from time to time or if the thought pops into my head, just lick it out of my hand and give my taste buds a thrill!

    I do that too sometimes....kids think I'm crazy...ha
  • My favorite lunch is taking 2 cups of raw veggies and putting apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and garlic/sea salt (grinder) on top. Let them sit in the fridge overnight. They are soooo good that way. I also usually do a chicken soup (add sea salt) or mushroom (add sea salt) with them.
  • I only salt my food at night. With sea salt of course. I don't worry about it during the day at all.
  • I sometimes forget the salt. But tonight i grilled veggies and coated them in EVOO and sea salt...really yummy.

Sometimes I put salt in water and down it.
  • Hmm, I might have to get up the guts to try the salt in water once in a while. I'm too scared I'll gag as all I can think of is my parents making me gargle salt water to get rid of a canker sore. yuck. I think I just have to get past those memories...lol. I never have issues getting it into my evening meal just the lunch meal. Thanks everyone.
