Grocery shopping and have a ?

  • Are ginger and garlic allowed foods?

What about poblano peppers? And all mushrooms or certain kinds?
  • Garlic- yes
Ginger spice?- I am pretty sure yes. It is my understanding that all spices are allowed
Not too sure about the peppers and the mushrooms, but my gut instinct is yes.
  • Fresh ginger.
  • I'd put the poblano in the same category as a bell peppers. Mushrooms...yes, yes!
  • ginger root - I was told yes. I use it a lot.
  • All are allowed on the diet.

It is best to use the fresh ginger and garlic when you can. If you choose to use the prepared garlic and ginger "cabinet spices" remember that it is much more concentrated in that state and keep track of it. It seems that the carbohydrate count can be a bit more and, for someone in a stall or slow down, it might be worth taking into consideration.

Carla, it is good to have you back, you are a wealth of knowledge on the plan. I managed to survive my first couple of weeks by reading your posts and learning my way through the ins and outs of the program. Thanks for your help!
  • Thanks so much for the responses.

I thought they might be allowed, but would rather double check.
