Is the romance any better since losing weight?

  • Hi Feathers!

I was wondering if any of you noticed that the romance in your life bumped up a notch or two since getting serious about losing weight and getting fit?

For me, I always had a good connection with my DH but he always initiated it. Also, I insisted that the lights had to be off, lol. Now, I find myself sometimes making the first move (which is still a bit weird) and I don't freak out if the lights are on anymore.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that along with building my self-confidence about my body image (which was really bad for many years) it's nice to get to a place where due to eating right and regular exercise I'm finally at peace with how my body looks in romantic situations...and that wasn't always the case. I'm definitely more relaxed about it in general which is always a good thing in my book.
  • The more weight I lose, the more often I want it. This, of course, makes hubby a very happy man.
  • I have heard that exercising can boost your libido. Really hope that works for me!

  • I have no love life to speak of, actually.. I've been single for nearly 3 years. I think this fall, when I am all back in shape I am gonna go dating. But it's so scary!

I'm not the type of girl to just have a one night stand, even when I am comfortable with my body, and I also don't like going to specific 'gay places'. Given that I AM gay, it's very hard meeting new potentials . So the past 3yrs I've told myself "ah, I am busy and I need to loose a bit of weight first". Well... I am mentally preparing myself for the end of that...
  • I feel better about how I look and I have better endurance... so, umm, yeah!!!
  • While my "love/sex life" wasn't lacking before... I do feel like it is better now. I'm sure that the reason is I am more comfortable in my skin, so it is more enjoyable Like fitmom, I don't mind the lights much any more! And I feel like it's been happening in more... Interesting places? lol sorry if TMI. My bf thought I looked great before, but I def feel sexier in my skin now.
  • I agree with the before was great but now is greater because I am more confident and comfortable reasoning. It's a great feeling!
  • Hmm. I broke up with the guy I'd been seeing (not a real boyfriend) about a month before I started losing weight, and stayed away from enough social settings (the kind with alcohol) while losing to have been completely celibate for that time

I'm not sure I want to be seeing anyone right now, but I certainly get hit on much more than before... it ultimately makes me a little bit more ambivalent about men to see how much a few pounds matters.
