Only four weigh-ins left!!! It's the Summer of Slim!
(okay that was funny in my head)
  • Thanks everyone

Only 4 more weeks and hopefully one of us will be the biggest loser!

I got home from the cabin today and did pretty well for calories. The only time I went over board was when it came to making smores. I had 4. I had a hard time saying no because they aren't something you can have when ever you want. I also got sunburned on my shoulders and didn't want to put on my sports bra since it would hurt so I thought I would skip exercising tonight but I sucked it up and it wasn't too bad.
  • Thanks! Congratulations to everyone else too!

I had a great week last week and this week is shaping up to be a good one too. I'm very excited about the way things are going right now. I've been sticking more closely to my original plan, fairly low carb, low sodium and low fat, and it seems to be working well. It's been a year (just about) and I had gradually moved away from my plan, little bit by little bit. This seems to be working now, so I'll try to repeat it for this week.

DS and I are going to an amusement park today. What are your thoughts on the big turkey legs? I know they will likely have a lot of sodium, but it's a good source of protein in a place like that, and DS and I can share one, so it keeps costs low too.
  • I would go ahead and get the turkey leg angie. You can always drink a ton of water to counteract the sodium!
  • Hey Angie, I did a bit of a nutritional search for Fair Food. Here is what I found:

from the Calorie King web site, fat and calories in food at the fair or festival:

Fried Snickers (5 oz.): 444 calories and 29 grams (g) fat
    Fried Twinkie (2 oz.): 420 calories/34 g fat
    Funnel cake (1): 760 calories/44 g fat
    Twinkie Dog Sundae: 500 calories/14 g fat
    Cotton candy: 171 calories/0 fat
    Fried cheesecake (6 oz.): 655 calories/47 g fat
    Foot-long hot dog and bun: 470 calories/26 g fat
    Giant turkey leg: 1,136 calories/54 g fat
  • Wow there is almost a days worth of calories in the turkey leg. I wouldn't eat it but in the grand scheme of things one bad day won't do much.
  • Yea one day wont be bad...plus if she shares it with someone shes getting half those cals or basically 600 which isn't bad tbh.
  • Thanks guys!

Turns out they were out of Turkey legs when we went to get one. DS ended up having a Ham sub on whole wheat with lettuce, and I got chicken on a pita with lettuce/tomato. We had a soft serve vanilla ice cream later as a treat, but I'm still on plan for the day...ended up at about 1400 calories from food, and we walked all day long, so I think I should be okay.

Tomorrow we are having "Yes Day", which is a day when I will say yes to (almost) anything DS asks as long as it's inexpensive and not dangerous. Normally it just means he wants ice cream or pizza at breakfast time or asks to eat in the livingroom rather than at the table. Above all, I'm sure I'll be playing many many board games, doing stuff with army men, having a whole lot of tickle fights...all the stuff 6 year olds like to do. Oh how I wish he'd ask to spend the whole day watching John Hughes movies...lol.
  • Sounds like a great day ahead of you, Angie!

Great job to Angie, Dreamer and Rated!

I can't believe how small our team has gotten this challenge. Every ounce counts, team! Stand up and finish strong!
  • Good job Angie, sounds like you had a really nice day. When I stared reading those calorie counts I was shocked! I mean I knew that most fair food wasn't good for you but I didn't realize how bad it all could be.
Yes day sounds awesome! What a fun idea. Enjoy your time playing 'Army'. You should create the 'Sarge' character (Platoon ladies will get that one)

Hope everyone is doing well. Amazingly I'm already down a pound at my Wed. weigh in. I would love to see Red Team have another great week. We're so close to goal!
  • Awesome choices angie!

Lots of running around and errands to do today. Its gonna be a bust day. At least I'll be walking for most of it! Have a fun BUTT-er melting ay ya'll. Lets beat the blue team hard core again!!! WOOT WOOT.
