Hello! I'm new & need help to get started

  • Hi everyone, I'm 5 ft 8 @ 170 pounds in which almost all my life I was at 130 and some times of my life i was way less, my weight fluctuates from time to time, It's time to make a change and this site looks motivating, I'm stepping forward and never back again, any really good tips on getting started as far as diet and exercise? thanks so much!
  • Hey there, and welcome! I'm a tall girl, too. I think you'll find that even just a few days of eating healthier will make you feel better. That has definitely been the case with me. Good luck!
  • thank you, yes i have to start eating healthier thats for sure =)
  • Welcome to 3FC =)

Make sustainable changes. Things you know you'll be able to do. For example: If you've never run a step in your life, then don't expect to be running an hour a day 6 days a week to start. Start by walking, and then when walking feels good and becomes a habit, then build it up a little bit at a time.

Start being mindful of what you eat. There are a million methods to do this, but try writing down what you eat for a week. Even if you don't change anything, you might be surprised at what and how much is going into your body. Aim for more fruits and vegetables with each meal. Aim for more water, and fewer drinks that contain lots of calories.

Look around, maintain healthy changes, and then add in more and more changes as time goes on.

    You can do this!
  • 170 and 5 foot 8 you probably don't appear to look to far out of shape. May I recommend some cardio and some strengthening and toning so you can build muscle and keep it off so it would be easier to maintain?
  • thanks for the tips & yes i gatta get this depressing junk off of me for better health.
  • Oh okay, so you're naturally slimmer than average. Well, good luck, and have fun. =D
