Newbie here, let's do this.

  • Hello, I am Mandy and I am new here, I just recently today accidently stumbled on this site, strangely I was looking for a place for size acceptance and how in the Medieval times that Royalty was even larger, etc. And then I found this site and forum, I started reading and I was enthralled with all the success stories and I found myself crying and happy for these people but sad for myself.

    Why?

Well the obvious, I am overweight, but I did start to lose some weight about 6 months ago, I was a little over 300lbs, I hired a personal trainer who helped with diet and exercises it was more of a boutique type of place then a gym, a private gym, so of course it was a little more pricey, but I did lose weight. Then my husband and I were struck with good news, we were being given a baby (which we are adopting), we have a 4 month old now, but we had to move to another state, sell our house in Texas and transform our whole lives in the matter of 2 months, Stressful. But even right before then I had to stop working out because I was having BP issues, during my initial weight loss I stopped taking BP medications because it was normal, but as soon as I went on a Vacation in November and indulged I found myself not feeling well with the medication was taking, so I stopped working out and slowly went back to carbs and sugars.

It’s time for me to get back on track.

Now I am not the type who has to eat a cheeseburger and fries every day, I think this is why I have maintained my weight loss (the 20 something lbs I lost) for the most part. But I know I have to get back on track, I have been back in Ga since mid May, I have a new son, I a good job a wonderful Husband, so as far as I am concerned there’s nothing to hold me back and I feel finding this website is exactly what I needed to get started again, so I am going to take this one day at a time and not torture myself.

My husband used to also be a tri-athlete so he is very supportive and helpful and he does most of the cooking and knows how to help keep me on a good diet that I will enjoy

So here we go! The start of my journey has begun again and I am glad I have found this place because I do not like to travel alone.

    Thank you,
    Mandy
  • MANDY ~ you are a beautiful lady, and don't forget it! I try to focus on the "healthy" part of this journey. You've already got a lot of support around you, so you can get back on track. I had blood pressure issues and found out it was the salt in the junkies that was causing it; I cut them out and the BP plunged. Lesson learned ...

You will love this place and the people too; so come back often ...
  • Welcome Mandy!! I too fell on this website by accident, and have loved every second being here!!

Hope this website helps you in your journey, and let this be the last one!

Good luck and looking forward to hearing about your success story
  • Good luck with your efforts!! YOU can do it!!
  • Thank you all for the replies and modivation!

    So where do I start?

I think this weekend, I am going to induldge in 1 meal for the weekend, but cut out all of My potatoes and breads for the next month.

Then work back to getting whole grains. :-)

    Thank you,
    Mandy
  • Welcome! You'll find that everyone here does things in a way that works best for them, so the trick is to find out what works best for you. It really is trial and error! But good luck to you.
