  • Hello there!!!! I was wondering if people here can suggest musics that helps them workout better or makes working out fun. I tend to get bored with what I have on my ipod so I try to always look for upbeat musics that will make me keep moving. Personally, working out without music just leaves me less motivated. So please do suggest musics that contributed to a better workout experience.

    Thank you
  • Anything rock and roll, especially from the 80s makes me want to move! Nice old hair bands: Duran Duran, Def Leppard, Poison, Motley Crue and Metallica. Great beat, speed and they can certainly jam!
  • Riot - Three Days Grace
One Step Closer - Linkin Park
    Generation - Simple Plan
  • I searched for the thread I saw in Weight loss support and couldn't find but there is one that has a lot of artist and song names out there...

me personally- Katy Perry, Black Eyed Peas, Billy Joel, Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, Bon Jovi, The Script, Cee Lo Green, Maroon 5, Rihanna, P!NK and many more (can you tell I like music ...hope that helps!
  • This might not be your cup of tea, but I always listen to audiobooks. I find something really easy (so no War and Peace, lol!). I end up doing chores to audiobooks too.You don't get the rhythm of course, but it occupies the mind. I run to my books and when my body gets painful, I concentrate on the story and it is really helpful. Plus, I only allow myself to listen when I am exercising or doing chores so I end up looking forward to the story even though I am physically doing something I might not inherently enjoy.

Audible.com has really helped me out in this respect - they sell audio books for download and I just download right into my MP3 player.
  • Ok, don't laugh but I have a folder on my IPOD called sexy. Yes. That's right! I have all those silly little (sometimes umm...rude) songs that girls sing about how hot they are and how everyone wants them (eg christina aguilera's woo hoo). They are dumb but they have a great beat and I feel more confident when I work out because heck, I want to be better than I am now at least.
  • Girl Talk. You can download the entire album for free http://illegal-art.net/allday/. Top notch workout/dance music.
  • These are a great selections. I will be looking forward to adding more tracks on my itunes. Thanks for all the suggestions.
  • I pretty much listen to the same stuff seabiscut does. I also love the 80's Cinderella and Ratt.
  • Abba!! and Pandora - David Crowe (comedian) station
  • I tried to send this via private msg, but I think you can't receive them as of yet.

I have a youtube acct and how I did this was, I reviewed the songs I liked and made a playlist—a couple actually. I use it on my laptop when I am on my treadmill. I hook my earphones up and run while the vids play. If you have a converter for your t.v. where you can pull the net up on your t.v., you can use uTube on your tv instead.
If I run outside, I use Pandora. If you've never used it before--it's a DREAM! It can be totally free, or you can buy it. Create a free account and you get 40 hrs/month free. All you do is create a playlist using the artist, then Pandora automatically plays music like the artist you entered. You can enter 1 name or more than 1. Never have to worry about hearing a bad song and if they select something you don't like, you can skip it or give it a "thumbs down" and they will never play that song in that particular playlist again!!
I run 11-12 min mile, but I could push to do more if I am motivated. The more I run, the better I get—naturally. I still have to walk some b/c of my back!

So, here is a list of the songs I have on my playlists. I like all types of music, so hopefully you will be able to mix something from this list. The ** songs indicate really fast tempo songs. The * songs denotes ones you should put at the front or as a cool down.

  • I really can't name any of the specific songs on my MP3 player.....but they are all from 2005 (club hits, mostly from one hit wonders)....which is the last time I worked out (before having my son!)

This music inspires me as it brings me back to a time when I was more fit.

So, maybe if you can think of some music from your teens/twenties/early thirties that used to pump you up, you'd feel that old energized feeling!
  • I must be old, I have Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac & the Rolling Stones on mine right now.
  • I've really been getting into dance & hip hop & techno music lately:

    Sean Paul:
When you gonna give it up to me
    Daddy's Home
    Press It Up
    Temperature
    She wanna be down
    Watch dem roll

    Pitbull:

    Krazy
    Bon Bon
    Descarada (dance)

    Flo Rida:

    Akon:

Scooter (the best for keeping running pace):

The Question is What is the Question
Rock Bottom (I could have this song on constant 'repeat' for like 20 mins solid and never get sick of it)
    How much is the Fish?
    Crank it Up
  • I like to run to some of the old club mixes from about ten years ago Fast beats which keep me running a bit faster
