Sounds like all of Arizona is burning. Gee. All that rain in the N.E. and they won't share it with anybody.

If someone would turn down the wind machine, they might get a handle on the fires. I scares me that it is still 0% contained. There is hope that the change in the fuel source (more scrub brush and not much pine forest) as it crosses over to NM will make it easier to stop.

The smoke and ash in Albuquerque is awful. When I water my patio flower pots, its smells like a wet campfire. But this is nothing compared to losing or worrying about losing your home. I, too, hope everyone stays safe. Especially the firefighters.

I'm in Los Alamos, NM (just a little north of DixC) and we're hanging in there, too. The smoke and ash are awful, my kids aren't sleeping because of it, but that's nothing really. We had a fire take out about half our town 10 years ago, so know what that is like. My thoughts and prayers go out to those whose homes and lives are in danger and also to the firefighting personnel who are hard at work on it!

And, if the NE would like to share some rain we'd be happy to have it!

The smoke in ABQ gets pretty ridiculous near the end of the day. The moon was orange last night. It was a lot worse a few days ago, but it still gets pretty hazy as the sun goes down. We had to change our air filter out because of all of the ash. I pretty much spend all day indoors, which is lucky because every time I go outside I just start coughing.

Do you 3 N.M. people live near each other? If so, you should go out for a lunch sometime. Sometime when you can breathe outdoors.

You might consider wearing one of those paper masks that some people wear outdoors. You can get them at any hardware store. They are cheap.

DixC and I live about an hour and a half from each other (although I'm in Apple Cookie fairly often), I don't know where triptriptrip is.

Yeah, that was a bad one. It was a 'controlled' burn by the fed govt agency that got outta control. I remember we locals scratching our heads wondering why they would do it in the spring when we all know the winds are crazy bad.

And we had a good scare a few years ago in ABQ when the bosque caught fire in a residential area. (Its the wooded area along the Rio Grande). I watched it go outta control from my window in the building where I worked. Last year, we had the bosque go up again this time in Corrales (suburb of ABQ). Both were contained and extinguished in a few days but it put everyone on edge.

It is so easy to start a wildfire. A car with a hot engine pulling over on a grassy shoulder can start one, not to mention tossed cigarettes. Its just so dangerous with the lack of rain and low humidity for sooo long. It sucks the life out of everything. We have had only 14/100th of an inch of rain so far this year. Humidity is about 15-25% at dawn and drops to single digit during the day.

My cats and dog are restless/nervous/anxious when the smoke rolls in. Their instincts are alerted. For me, it seems similar to bad allergies - eyes stinging, cough, sinus issues, etc. I can't imagine how difficult it is for people with breathing problems.

Silver lining - sometimes we get really colorful sunrises.

Sounds like triptriptrip is in ABQ area. Half way for all would probably be Santa Fe. I could take the train!! I love the train! It seems so European. I can't believe there are only 3 New Mexicans on 3FC!!!
