YOUR FAVORITE MUNCHIE SATISFIER??? I need more ideas...

  • Hi all! Yesterday was my 3rd weigh in. The first week I lost 10, second 0 and the third 2. I am completely satisfied with my weekly average of 4 pounds. The most wonderful thing is the 3% of body fat and the 15 inches that are a thing of my past. Woot woot!

MY QUESTION FOR ALL OF YOU FINE FOLKS....

Some days when I get home, I just want to munch. I am not really hungry, but I want something to fill my emotional munch void. Here are a few of my much fixes...
    • Pickled Cauliflower
    • Mini Cucumber sliced down the middle covered in sea salt
    • Herbal tea
    • Radishes
    • Five *eh hem* mini M&Ms
    • Three or Four Pez candies

Can you please give me a few of yours so that I can get rid of the M&M and Pez indescretions?
  • Pickles are really excellent for that. Just be careful not to overdo them. If you eat too many the vinegar wrecks your teeth a little bit. Calorie-wise, though, at 8 calories a pickle, they're not bad.

Strawberries are also excellent. A pound of strawberries (one of those moderate sized cartons from the grocery store) is only 145 calories.
  • The m&m's and pez should go- I think it could make a big difference. Maybe not in weight loss but in dedication to the program. If you have no "tastes" of anything off plan it gets so much easier to say no to things. Strawberries are unfortunately not allowed yet in your plan but pickles are a great idea. Celery is not overly tasty but would be a good choice. If you eat restricted packages you could cut up bars into 8-ish pieces and then freeze it and grab one slice whenever you feel a bit munchie. I loveee the southwest cheese curls, that's my most delicious recommendation
  • You can also make kale chips (take a look at the recipe thread for the simple recipe)! I season mine with old bay seasoning. Yummy and crunchy.
  • Pebbles 123 - My fav restricted item is Southwest Cheese Curls.

I really look forward to my dinners and the recipes on this website have been great. My favs are cauliflower fried rice and lettuce wraps.

I am going to try the Southwest meatballs using 1/3 package of Southwest Cheese Curls crushed in the recipe.
  • my favorite for a sweet fix is the chocolate raspberry bar. like others have said, cut it up in small pieces so you don't wolf it down (it's tiny).

for a salty fix, I like snacking on nori sheets. The Wang brand is nice, crisp, and salty with less than 1 g of carb and of fat per serving. I use them as my potato chip substitute.

But more importantly, I suggest you also work on the mental aspect of changing your need to snack when not hungry. This behavior is what's going to bite us in the *** when we're off the diet and not bound by the restrictions of Ph 1. I like to think of Ph 1 as a safe, restricted, simple environment within which I have the space to work on my mental behavior around food. I don't want to go back to the behavior that got me to my starting weight (cuz, frankly, I don't want to do this diet again).

    good luck!!

AMEN! You've got that so totally absolutely right!
  • I personally love salted dehydrated zuchinni, turnips, and soy beans. It counts as part of your veggies and they are so crunchy! You can even make a salsa once a week and dip your zuchinni "chips" in it.
  • Do you make your own dehydrated veggie chips or is there some place you can buy them?
  • Newpair - Im curious too if you buy them and if what the brand is? If not how do you prep and I can borrow my mom's dehydrator to make.
  • i am making some in the oven right now. i just googled it, lol
  • Here are my treats to get me through

Decaf Earl Grey Tea with Sugar Free Vanilla and skim milk
Celery Sticks with Walden Farms Pnut Butter
Decaf Coffee w/Walden Farms Carmel Sauce and a 1/4 package of the ready made vanilla shake.
  • I make the choco muffins with an egg white and a tsp of baking powder (makes 4 mini muffins) I top it with Vanilla pudding mixx in one tablespoon of spenda and some sort of flavoured SF syrup, so far I have tried orange extract, pumpkin pie syrup and peanut butter. I put them in the fridge so they are ready if I need to kill the munch.

I agree with the PP about Kale chips.. I really can't say enough about how good they are.
  • I too like to have a pickle, I usually get home around 510 so I grab a pickle and out the door for 1/2 hour -3/4 hour walk my dogs. Then home for supper. You can also split your 3 packet and have part late afternoon and the rest after supper. I love mixing the peanut butter puffs with the chocolate puffs and then I have 2 bags of mixed and it tastes like Reese's. I also have extra water when I am really hungry.
