Monday Thread

  • Ok so it is 7:30 AM and I got to work an hour ago. This sucks! I'm starting the thread and will post more later.
  • Hi Lori!

I am here as well, working away. Didn't have a good weekend eating wise, but I am buckling down again today. I have 30 pounds to lose before summer, and I know I can do it!!

Not much else new, since we have moved into our new house, life is settling down a bit, we still have lots of little things to do, but we aren't in a big hurry to get them done.

I am having DH move my treadmill into our bedroom. We have our TV mounted on the corner by the ceiling, so I think if I put my treadmill in the corner I can walk each morning and watch the news. I really enjoy walking outside, but with the snow and ice on the ground it is just to dangerous, and too hard to keep up a good pace, so it will be treadmill mode for a while. As long as I have TV to watch it helps the time go by. I am journalling my points and staying away from fast food and soda. I know that if I just start eating a bit better and walking again, the pounds will come off. I am so not happy with myself for gaining all this weight back, but what do you do? Suck it up and deal with it!

Well, I will be back in a bit. A big "Hi" to those I missed while writing this post!
  • I just lost my whole post .

I wanted to tell you all I bought a condo!! Its the "one" - its a bit smaller than we had intended but the location, view (on the river) and bells and whistles are what we want EXACTLY!!

We can't move in til mid-March though

I spent the whole weekend looking at condos and buying ours plus we spend about 19 hours cleaning mom's house to put on the market today. I hope it sells. Houses in Calgary usually sell within 8 days of listing. the market is amazing.

OK must go and read posts to reply properly.

    Wow, I am a homeowner!!
  • A big "CONGRATS" Belle! That is a big step!
  • happy new year!
Hi Lori, Belle and Tonya and all those about to post!
I'm back at work after 2 weeks off. Where does the time go?! Hope you all had a great Xmas and New Year. Mine went pretty well. Xmas with family was fine until I got sick (winter vomiting bug) which meant I stayed there longer than intended and my sister started to get on my nerves (she's fine in small doses, sadly 5 nights under the same roof was too much!). But I had a great time with friends in Edinburgh before heading back to London. And I met up with JenK and we had a really good time - hopefully Jen has some pics to post later on! I reckon I'll have to go visit her in Chicago sometime this year (if she'll have me!). Anyone else live nearby? Be nice to put faces to a few more names on here.
Anyhow, despite my best efforts to 'enjoy' the festive season the vomiting bug got the better of me and I lost all the weight I put on during the festive season build-up. Which is good, but boy was it a horrible way to do it. So my aim for January is to eat healthily and try and get my immune system back up and running. Speaking of running I might try and get into it, so many people jog round the common near me it makes me feel guilty and unfit!
Belle - congrats on being a homeowner! Did you and BF buy together?
Tonya - good luck getting rid of those 30 pounds. You did it before, you can do it again. Just stick to it.
Hello to everyone else (old, new and lurkers). Come and post!
    Kirsty
  • Hey ladies! I am sick, I've been sick since boxing day (alhough I wasn't feeling too well on Christmas day either. It swill go away for a day and then come back for 2 or go away for 4 hours and then come back. It's horrible. But I'm at work today cause I couldn't miss another day without feeling horrible for my co-workers. I've already missed the busiest 2 days of the semester.

Otherwise, my holidays were nice, I relaxed a lot and I even got some studying done. I also slept way too much but I'll get better one day. I'll catch up with everyone and be back

  • I'm here!
It's been a while, but I wanted to stop in and say hi to everyone! I had a wonderful time in London with Kirsty. It was so great to meet her and she gave me quite a tour of the city! I'll post pics of us soon!Hopefully she will be out to Chicago soon to visit me now! Maybe Laura, Tonya, Jayne and anyone else that isn't TOO far away would be able to meet up with us.

I go back to school next week. It is hard to believe that my break has gone so fast. Since finals ended, I have been on a few dates with a boy from class I'll give you all more details as they become available!

Belle - Congrats on your condo. How exciting!
Tonya - Congrats on moving into your new home!

I hope everyone else is doing well. Those of you that are sick - take care of yourselves and feel better soon!!
  • Hi guys!

Kirsty and Auntie Jen! That is so cool that you guys met up. Please post any pictures you have when they are ready! That is so very cool....

Tonya - having the treadmill in your room should be a big help - you can do your workout first off in the am while you watch TV - that is awesome. I know you can do it too Are you liking your new house??

KT - sorry to hear you have the "illness" its going around here still as well but so far I have managed to not get anything again! Take care of yourself!

Thanks for all of your congrats on the place. Yup, I bought it 50/50 with b/f. No ring yet, but at least we aren't wasting our $ on rent. Also, we HAVE to move due to getting my dogs (mom's new apt doesn't take dogs) so we figured rather than paying an extra $200/month on an apt that takes pets we'll have a new home. Its worth it. Plus, our condo fees include all utilities so its worth it even more...

But there is lots to do - we meet our mortgage guy tomorrow night and i have to get the condo specs and by-laws to our lawyer, etc, all before the 14th. So its a bit of a crunch. but well worth it of course, to have your butt covered. And b/f is lookign forward to living with the dogs as well, which is great.

I'll try to post pics of the showhome on my website and if I do I'll list the URL...

    BBL!
  • Belle ~

What is the URL to your website? If you don't want to post it, can you PM me?

    Thanks,

Can't wait to see the pics!
  • tonya, I PMed you!!
  • Ooo ooo, I wanna see. Can you show me too? Congrats, that is so exciting. My little sis bought a condo when she was 21. Best thing she ever did as far as her credit rating and having some sort of investment.
I still haven't caught up - we're busy today too.

  • Hey gals,

Glad to see so many of your back from holidays. I've had a pooey day eating wise. I finihsed all of my points by 4:30 today & so went over for supper. Crappy. My frined & I got together tonight & made a game plan to help kep each other accountable. I was the same this week as last week for my WI which didn't suprise me int he least. Tomorrow I'm going to be back at this full force.

Belle, congrats on yoru condo! Are you going to be downtown or just along the river somewhere? One of my favorite parts of Cowtown is that little island park just off Eau Claire Market by the Hard Rock-of course I haven't been there in like 7 years or so.

Kirsty & KT sorry to hear your holidays have been plaqued by illness. Get better soon!

Tonya good plan with the treadmill. You can do this!

Lori, hope you are too tired from your early start today.

Jen, glad to see you here. Please post pics from your trip. I'm jealous! DH went back to univ today & his break seemed to fly by too.

Anyway should go watch some hockey on tv-not my team though Talk to you all tomorrow.
