Worried about losing in time for vacation

  • I'm going to Disney World and Universal Studios in mid-August and I am starting to freakout. I was worried that I wouldn't fit on all the rides and was hoping to be around 235-245 by the time I go. Time is running out and I am starting to feel like I won't make it. Do you think it's even possible to loose 40 pounds in 11 weeks?
  • I think that's incredibly unrealistic.

I went to Disney at over 300 pounds and the only rides I couldn't fit on were the ones that left your feet dangling and had the overhead restraints. They usually snap shut between your legs and that can be tricky with a big belly.

Stay on plan between now and then and do things right. However much you lose, you'll feel better and be able to enjoy your vacation.
  • Yes it is. Unless you eat nothing, 4 pounds a week is unhealthy and totally unreasonable. Why did you wait so long?
  • I haven't waited so long. I've been dieting for this trip for a year, but I started losing super slowly when I hit 30 pounds.
  • I think 22 pounds would be doable and healthy. Stay strong on ww, track everything and add some walking in too if you haven't already. Most of all, have a wonderful vacation regardless of your weight.

If you're losing super slowly, then I think you've answered your own question.

How do you feel after losing what you have? I'd be willing to bet you feel better now than you did before you started, right? Focus on that. And I agree with the person who said to start walking... You're going to walk - and stand in line after line after line - a LOT during a vacation like that. The more walking you do now, the better conditioned you'll be once you get there.
  • Yeah, I guess you're right, I'll just do the best I can and hope for the best.

To be honest I was losing quickly and then started having alternating good and bad weeks after I tried points plus. I wasn't having much success with the new program and got discouraged. I have switched back to using the old program since i was successful, but have found it really hard to get back into the groove of things.

I will start exercising again, I haven't been doing that lately and I should be taking my dogs on longer walks anyway.

    Thanks for the encouragement.
  • exercise will help. Strength training anyway; might help you tone things down. Not the number, but your body, which is generally the size issue anyway
  • WhT do you mean by strength training? Like lifting weights or something like that? I have a home gym of sorts, a bike, gazelle, and a treadmill. And I like to take my dogs on 1-2 miles walks. Aside from more active Wii games, that's the only types of exercise I've ever done.
  • yes some weight lifting. Biceps, triceps, squats, lunges.
  • Alright, I'll give it a try. Thanks.
