  • Hi everyone
What is the amount pounds needed to lose a jeans size, I can't seem to find really much on it, so is it basic on the person size? Any good jeans out there that don't stretch out of shape after few weeks, the ones I got a Deb's they R good for the wallet but suck after a while.
    Thanks
  • Every body is different. There is no formula to follow.
  • Usually 7-12lbs is a size down but like Lisa said, it's different for everyone. I lost 30lbs and am 18-20 from 22-24 so....
  • And it all depends on the brands/sizes you're buying. Some clothes can fit for a LOT of weights... others for a five-pound range.
  • Usually every 10lbs I lose, I also lose a pant size. I went from a size 28 to a 13 and still dropping sizes!
  • I started at a 24 and I am down 27 lb and I am now a loose 22! I bought the Lane Bryant Boot cut jeans. I should have bought the 20's!!
  • 100% different for each person -and- depends on how much you have to lose.

I'd lost over 50 lbs before I first saw a change in my pant size.
  • It took me 30 to be able to button up the next size... It should not take 30 for the next I don't think. But what everyone is saying is true. It's different for everybody.
  • I go about 15 pounds between sizes, but I think it really depends on your body shape/where you carry your weight. I have a gigantic spare tire

I agree. I have HUGE thighs. Not "I'm fat so my thighs are big." I mean HUGE thighs. Even right now, I'm wearing size 20 jeans from Lane Bryant - so jeans cut for plus size women. The waist on them gaps something fierce (my belt is on the sixth set of holes) but the legs barely come up over my thighs. So my thighs need a size 22 or 24 but my waist is about a size 16. It sucks. :-(
  • Like everyone else said, it changes depending on the person. I know when I was measured for a bridesmaid dress two years ago, the woman said it was about 10-15lbs per size. Then again, formal dresses are always weird with sizes, as I usually need to go up at least a size or two.

For me, I think it is about 15 or so, but always in the hips and waist, where I carry most of my weight. My pant sizes fluctuate like crazy, and the weight gain and loss is most evident there. But shirts I bought six, seven years ago still fit fine!

Oh, I have that problem, too! With the waist gap. Sooooooo annoying.
  • Aaaahhhhh the lovely pear shape.........I have HUGE thighs and hips as well so for me it's about 12-15 lbs. The waist is always sooooo big but to fit my thighs i have to go larger i find that brands matter too. I find that you can get good deals at TJ Maxx and Marshalls on good name jeans
  • It's about 15 pounds per size for me too. I have lost almost 40 pounds and have dropped 2 dress sizes (from an 18 to a 14). In jeans, I am between a 14 and a 16. It all depends on brand, cut, store.

Love TJ Maxx and Marshalls. Good deals can be found there. Good luck!
  • I've lost about 25 pounds and went from a tight 20 to a very loose 18. I'm opposite from some here in that my waist is large and so I wear a much larger size than many people my weight simply because I need the waist to fit while the rest is loose. My 18s now are tight but I can't quite wear 16, maybe in about 5 more pounds.
