Popcorn!

  • Hi Everyone!

At my meeting Wednesday we were discussing popcorn because many of us like to eat it daily. I had figured out that an entire large bag of 94% fat free popcorn is 7 points but my leader seems to think it's 3. Have any of you figured out exactly how much it is?
  • what i've found is that 1 cup (of fat free or the 94% stuff etc etc) is 1 point... It seems to stick to that even if you have 7 cups... 7cups = 7 points.
    10 = 10..
I usually get the individual 100 cal packs. They're on special the most, and its easier to not worry about overindulging. You have a small packet, you can eat it all
  • I thought 5 cups = 1 point?
  • lol that doesnt sound right. Dont you have a calculator?

i just looked it up. Light butter flavored 3 cups = 3 points.
    light plain 3 cups = 3 points
plain air pooped 3 cups = 2 points
    reduced fat (94%) 5 cups = 3pts
  • I finally figured it out!

This is what the nutrition label lists for unpopped popcorn

    130 Calories for 3 Tbsp
    Total Fat 2.5g
    Total Carbohydrate 28g
    Protein 4g

There are 14 cups per bag, each cup of popped popcorn is 15 calories. The entire bag is 210 calories and below the nutrition label it states the nutrition information for unpopped popcorn.

1 Cup provides 0g of total fat
4g Total Carbohydrate (56 in the entire bag)
    Less than 1g Dietary Fiber
    0 Protein

I put in everything and made the fiber 5g because for 14 cups there has to at least be that much and it came out to 6 points.
  • I think that sounds about right, Kim.
  • All i know, is that for the sour cream and onion flavour shakers popcorn (my only bad vice) the package tells me it is 10points per bag. I dont care for the other lighter popcorns, i usually have about 15 - 18 points left after i finish work at midnight, so i have that popcorn to sooth my munchies. I hate butter popcorn cause it puts that weird fake oily butter coating on the roof of my mouth lol.
  • For Orville Smartpop its 3pts for 1/2 a bag, doubled in the calculator is 6 points (because we all know that 3 + 3 does not necessarily = 6 in WW)
