So we made split pea soup with the left over ham.. There isn't much ham and no salt and we made it with water and peas. How many points do you think this would be? I know you get veggies for free but to Peas count? And what if you eat no ham?. Thank you!
Peas are starchy but usually low calorie/point- I'd say about 2 points for about 1 cup of peas. Definitely lower if you eat no ham- it sounds like a yummy and really low point soup! I wouldn't worry about it unless you eat 2-3 bowlfuls.
Peas definitely count. They are one of the super starchy veggies, up there with corn and potatoes as far as Points go. Look it up, divide the amount of peas you put in by the number of servings.
Split peas are legumes not veggies so they do count, as do green peas because they are starchy. According to the WW website split pea with ham, 1 cup is between 3 and 7 points depending on how it was made. 1 cup of cooked split peas alone is 5 pointsplus. Hope that helped!
Just another tidbit.......even though you said you added no salt, if you are using split peas from the dried state, they already have salt. Also, even if you did not use alot of ham, that still adds to your salt content.
My suggestion to you is, put the recipe into recipe builder on etools and and filter in how many servings. Will will calulate the point value for you.
Now according to the points plus value book one cup of canned split pea and ham is 5 points. I would go with that in order not to under calculate.
