Specific Questions about C25k

  • What weight were you when you started the program?

How much have you lost since then?

    Thanks!
  • Oh, back when I did C25K I started at about 255 and after I took 13 weeks to do it.. I weighed 236. That's not all I did, though. I also did 30 Day Shred in there and a few WATP dvd's...

It's a good program! ETA: I happen to have a spreadsheet with these notes, lol...
  • I am just trying to decide if I would like to lose more before trying it.
  • You're totally good starting now, but if you want to hold off you can start walking 20-30 minutes a day now and then when you feel ready weeks 1-2 will be a breeze! I started at 150 and have yet to finish but am 138 today. If I had heard of it earlier I would have started at 170 when I started hitting the gym.
  • I was thinking maybe 185 for me... I'm just nervous that I won't be able to do it well enough to stick with it.

Even at 250 something, I was able to do it. I LOVED the way it made me feel, even though jogging around at 250ish was kind of a funny sight, I'm sure.

I plan to do it again once I hit 199, to see how much better I do weighing less. I LOVE doing 5K's and I want to be able to keep lowering my time, and the intervals really help with the training and everything.
  • Did you experience any stalls in weight loss while doing the program?
  • I started c25k programme at about 230, it was great and I loved it. Not sure about how much it helped me to lose as I was doing other exercise at the time.

I did put it on hold though because even though I wasn't experiencing any pain I still worried that being overweight was going to put undue stress on my knees and may cause me problems in the future (Mild knee problems in the past) I am looking forward to running again when I hit a normal bmi though.

About stalls ,yes, running did cause my weight loss to be less linear. I felt like I was holding onto extra water especially in my legs, and I know it's not very easy for women to gain muscle mass but I swear I just felt like my legs were getting even bigger. Also running more than any other exercise would raise my hunger a lot. This was also a small part of the reason I put running on the back burner.

Love c2k as a running programme though, It has made running accessible to me. I used to think people were either born fit enough to run/jog or not, progressing though the programme gave me happiness almost equal to standing on the scale and seeing it go down
  • I've been wanting to try this for a long time and have been holding out for motivation and for the lovely New England weather to decide what season it wants it to be. Now that warmer weather is here I think it's time to bust out the running sneakers I bought specifically for this months ago!
