Dying!

  • I'm absolutely dying of hunger pangs. Oh my gosh.

I cannot live off if 800 calories a day are you kidding me!
I'm young and I work construction so I think I need more calories then someone who has a more stationary job. I'm constantly moving for ten hours and day lifting walk the whole nine yards. My coach said we will see how the first week goes and adjust accordingly but I cannot get through the first week. Day six today. I haven't " cheated " as in eaten a high carc stuff but I have eaten more zero carb calories just so my pain goes away. Im pretty sure I've hit ketosis I have that weird crazy taste in my mouth and I bought ketosix and it says the keotones are there. I have eaten zero carb cheese and and brought some extra chicken for lunch and have egg white in the morning. I have this whey protien isolate that I HAVE to consume when I'm working or I wouldn't be able to make it. It's 1.4 carbs 80 cal and 22g of protien so amost the exact same as the IP stuff. I eat the five packs a day and extra stuff zero carb though. I don't know. I just feel like this hunger will never end. I'm okay of the weekends when I dont work. But unfortunenatly thats 2/7 days The scale says I've lost 6 pounds. But its so painful.

I'm just venting really. Im going to talk to my coach about it tomorrow.
But I'm so angry with this diet right now
  • Some of those "hunger pangs" may actually be "hungry for carb pangs." We've all experienced them in the first week, some even in the second week; that's probably why your coach said to see how things go the first week. 800 to 1000 calories a day is enough for you when your body is in ketosis, because it's getting the rest of the calories it needs from the excess body fat.

Make sure you're getting your 4 cups of veggies in a day, and eat all the lettuce you want.

Because your job requires you to move around a lot, your coach may suggest you have 4 IP packets a day instead of 3. Be careful with the things you are adding to your diet. You don't want to add calories or fat, even if it's 0-carb. Everything is specifically measured in this diet for optimal weight loss.

Finally, there is also an alternative Phase 1, which some have to go on before starting the actual phase 1. You may want to talk to your coach about this.

It's great that you're still losing weight! I'm sure that next week, you will start feeling better, if not more energetic.
  • I totally feel for you, I was feeling the same things during the first week, as I know most of us did. I can promise you, it's gets better! Some sacrifice now is necessary however if you're truly dedicated to doing this
  • Despite what you say and feel.......you ARE doing it and you WILL succeed. I can honestly tell you that I felt the same way, and you are SOOOOO close to feeling better. hang.in.there. Do not give up, you have made it this far and 6 lbs are already behind you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will feel crazy good in a matter of days!
  • I felt the same way! I had major doubts, but by day 4 I was feeling so much better. you CAN do this.
  • Welcome to IP! For me, hunger is a part of the package. I have to decide if I want to lose weight and be hungry, or if I want to not lose weight? That's what it comes down to. I haven't gotten less hungry since my first week (I am in my 5th week), but i have gotten more use to being hungry so it is more "the norm" and less bothersome than it used to be. I just remind myself that I have never seen a person who was literally starving who was fat, so if I feel like I am "starving" that is good!
  • I really commend you for sticking to the diet even though it's so tough for you right now. For me, after 8 days the hunger and cravings went away completely. I'm on day sixteen and my body is still adjusting, but I feel so much better than in the first few days. Keep up the good work, you will be so glad you did!
  • I'll go against the majority here and say this particular diet is not good for you given your active lifestyle, and the fact you are not that far away from your goal weight.

If you are feeling weak, dizzy, or less than optimal, it becomes a safety concern for you (and others) on the construction site. Skip the expensive, chemical-laden packets and find a real food diet that gives you the nutrition you need to support your body.

Have you looked into Paleo/Primal? Super healthy, lower in carbs, and supports an active lifestyle.
