Hoping to lose some weight before law school!

  • Hi everyone!

I'm a recent college grad. I'll be heading to law school this fall, and from what I hear, it is non-stop work. I'm working part-time and living with my parents right now, so this will probably be the last time I have so much free time to dedicate to improving myself.

I've been overweight my entire life. I've been trying to lose weight my entire life. My lowest adult weight has been just under 150 pounds--I got there twice. My highest adult weight:183. I got there...last week. Talk about a wake up call. I weighed around 160 when I first entered college, and now, less than 5 years later, I've gained twenty pounds!

I've tried Nutrisystem, I've tried Jenny Craig, I've even tried terrible yo-yo binging and fasting. Right now, I'm going back to the only weight loss method that has ever really worked for me: Eat very cleanly--a lot of vegetables and fruits, not too many carbs, no processed/fast foods. Eat small amounts and keep lots of healthy snacks nearby. Exercise consistently. It sounds so easy when written down, doesn't it? Too bad most of us know how hard it really is in practice!

My goal is to get back to 160 before law school starts at the end of August. That's 20 pounds in 4 months. 5 pounds per month. Totally doable, right?
  • Welcome! Good luck with your goals! It sounds totally doable.
  • Of course it's doable, you have the almost the same goal and weight as me and the same deadline for achieving it so I'm banking on it be doable too
  • Your goals definately sound doable.

And now is definately the best time to get yourself into your new life habit.

If you make it a part of your daily routine now..it will keep you in the same routine when life gets "exciting".
  • You can do it !
  • Thanks for the support, everyone! I'm excited to get this weight moving already!
