Rewarding Yourself!

  • How do you reward yourself for reaching your goals & how often do you do it? What are your bigger long term rewards?

  • I like to buy new clothes... I also rewarded myself with a tanning membership before

My big long term reward will be being FIT!
  • I really didn't have any rewards until coming up those in my signature this week. Clothes were a necessity, though worked as a reward too.
  • I have mini-goals at:

265lbs (10% of my start weight)
    230lbs
    195lbs (Onederland AND 100lbs lost)
    175lbs

And then my final goal of 155lbs.

I still need to set rewards for each of those goals though! The rewards won't be clothes though, because we believe that clothes are a need, not a reward. When I quit smoking I got a tattoo that represents one of my daughters. I wouldn't be surprised if one of my lower goals is a tattoo to represent my other daughter.
  • I am planning on rewarding myself when I will no longer be classified as obese with a pair of earrings. My big reward that will come after I am at a good weight for my size will be a watch that I have had my eye on since Christmas time.

The reward I am most looking forward to though is feeling good about myself, being able to wear nice clothes and increased energy and strength.

My boyfriend also said that once I am close to my goal that he'll take me on a nice vacation!
  • Once I hit Onederland I'll probably spend the day at a spa, massage, nails, facial..the works!
Then once I hit goal weight (150) I'm planning on having a professional photo shoot with my FH and Son
  • I don't think I've ever rewarded myself maybe I should think about putting something to tempt me to lose, in 5lbs I would have lost 50lbs since I started, maybe I should think of something nice that isn't a big cake
  • I really need to set up more mini rewards for myself, because as of right now, the only reward I have decided on is to buy a Wii Fit as soon as I lose enough weight for the scale capacity, because right now I weigh too much for it. I haven't thought of buying new clothes at all, but that's an idea .. or maybe treat myself to a new pair of sneakers every 10 lbs lost.. lol
  • The biggest reward I gave myself my 100 point decrease in my cholesterol levels, normal blood pressure, and good health!
  • Well the experience has been rewarding with just being smaller. I have had a few NSV like having a bath towel wrap around me all the way, wearing an old pair of size 18 jeans I haven't been able to wear since I got them, and having to give up clothes that were too big. I just broke 210 yesterday which means that in less than 10 pounds I technically won't be obese anymore. Onederland is so close yet still seems surreal. I don't know about doing special things for myself b/c these milestones are so huge for me and I have to watch how many clothes I buy as they don't fit for long and I live on a budget. I am just lucky to still have smaller clothes in my closet to squeeze into for right now. I did see the scale do down a little more today and my clothes which were getting pretty worn are baggy so I told my hubby I'll probably need new clothes soon and we should set aside some money for that. The hubby said he was proud of me. It's really been rewarding in itself but I do look forward to buying new clothes in the regular section instead of plus size soon.

I do love the idea of rewards, I am just more concerned about getting to the goals most of the time than celebrating them. Probably b/c in the past milestone celebrations have made me a little lax on getting to goal.
  • i don't have the money to reward myself, but i want this dress from torrid. i think i will reward myself when i get 25% closer to my goal. i haven't thought of my ultimate reward but it would most likely be SHOPPING. im going to spoil myself
  • I have rewarded myself for scale related and non-scale related victories. When I hit my 20 pound mark I cut my hair. When I completed a 5k I bought new running shoes. When I hit my 40 pound mark I'd like to get a tattoo I've been wanting for a while. When I make it to goal it's shopping time!!! I plan to buy new everything (which I'm sure DH will love).
  • I have made plans to treat myself at a few milestones but I've never gotten round to it. My treats ideas are things like mani/pedis, spa treatments, clothes
