lack of hormones

  • I have been on IP for 3 weeks and only lost 10 pounds....I believe its hormone related.....last year I had to have a total hysterectomy due to cysts and tumors and now my dr. only has me on progesterone......My coach says I should be losing at least 7 lbs aweek.....they have a hormone specialists at my clinic and are doing tests to see exactly what my body requires, he prescribes bioidentical hormone replacement......he tells me that as soon as my levels are right that I will start to really lose the weight....Its a real struggle just to lose 3lbs a week, Im so aggraviated!!!

7 lbs a week???!! maybe if you are a guy! to loose that much weight in a week is a rarety if it ever happens at all! you loosing 10lbs in three weeks is a totally fine number. Everyone always wishes it was more its just part of dieting (we want it to be over asap!). But honestly most people have a good weight loss their first week (4-10 lbs) but after that it starts to settle down and women tend to loose betwee 2-4 lbs on average each week. You are doing fine!
  • Thanks, I will just feel better when I get my tests results in.... this forced menopause is no fun......they are also checking my cortisol levels too, because I am under so much stress right now.....

I find this program is pretty good for losing quickly. Just stick with it and you will see results. Honestly, I want to lose a little slower now because I'm afraid of sagging skin if I lose too fast. 2-3 pounds a week is perfect IMO. Good luck! You will start noticing differences after you lose about 10% of your body weight is what my coach was telling me yesterday.
  • I agree with the PP's.....10 pounds is awesome!!! I understand your frustration totally tho! I seem to be losing on average 2 - 3 lbs per week, and don't understand why others are losing 4 -5+ a week! PS: I do believe it's 3 -5 lbs of weight loss for women, and 4 -7 for men per week that's advertised.
I had a complete hysterectomy 5 years ago at the age of 40, and ever since it has been very hard to lose weight (I never went on any hormone replacement medication so I can't help you there)....but then I found this "way of eating"! The weight is coming off slowly....but it IS coming off!! STICK WITH IT!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I do think that losing around 3lbs a week is normal, I would rather it be at least 4 or 5 tho..... Your really lucky that you didnt need hormone replacement, I know alot of women who dont need it.......I stop using them for awhile and it causes me to have alot of sleeping problems, not to mention the hot flashes, and the mood swings are awful......before my surgery I lost 70 lbs in 6 months and then right after the surgery I have gained 40 lbs back so I really do believe its because of my hormones........
