Too much sodium???

  • I know sodium can effect ur weight, but how much sodium should a person on diet be ingesting?
  • Generally it's recommended to get no more than 2300 mg of sodium a dayif you are a healthy adult. I believe if you have high blood pressure that number is 1500 mg.

1 tsp of salt is 2300 mg. I pretty much don't put salt in ANYTHING and I'm getting an average of 1500-1800 mg.

Oh and pretty much anytime I eat out that number is always above 3000. I try to eat out VERY little cuz of that and I ask for no salt at restaurants.
  • Very Helpful, Thanks!
  • I thought I heard that the new recommendation is 1500mg per day. I know when I stay closer to this number, I feel much better. 2000+ and I hold water and my rings become difficult to remove/leave indentations.
  • Im soo bad about counting my sodium intake. But I have realized that drinking atleast 64oz (sometimes more) water a day, has really kept my water weight down alot. Water is seriously a miracle in weight loss, I wish I had known this on other go rounds w/ dieting.
