YUCK! I am NOT eating something unsatisfying.

  • I just made lunch, and honestly, it was gross. I took one bite and threw it out. Now before, I probably would have eaten it anyway because it was "good for me" and then, since I would have been completely unsatisfied, I would have pigged out on something else later.

This time though, I just decided that I am not wasting my points on something that doesn't taste good. Period. I threw it out and made myself something else.

I feel GOOD about this... but silly! Is this what normal people do? Do people do this every day and it's no big deal? I just can't believe I threw out a whole meal.
  • Good for you! Life is too short to eat food that is not great! And the points are limited too!
  • I am dying to know what you made!
I have only thrown something out once or twice, when I thought I was being a creative cook and the flavors I chose to combine were particularly terrible together. I'm one of those people who will eat anything.
Good for you for tossing the meal!
  • Good for you for tossing it!

I don't know what's "normal," but I know that I used to have real problems tossing out food. "I don't want to waste it," I thought, and ate it all up even if it was blah or unsatisfying or frankly kind of gross (I, too, am a kitchen experimenter like Fatburner and sometimes I create Frankenstein's monster ).

Then I read something here that made SO much sense: if I eat something instead of throwing it away because I "don't want to waste," I am essentially treating my own body like a trash can or garbage disposal. The food is still wasted whether I throw it out or eat it, because it's food I didn't need as fuel and didn't enjoy eating--and that's the very definition of waste.

I'm glad you enjoyed your second lunch (and I would also love to know what you made that was so oogy ).

I grew up very poor and food was never wasted, and that has stayed with me even though I haven't had to worry about affording food my entire adult life.
However much is on my plate is how much I eat. I hate to toss out leftovers. I have to make conscious decision to tell myself the same thing so that I don't eat things that aren't worth the points.

I have tried several of the frozen lean cuisines/smart ones and thrown them out after just one bite. They are convenient and all and there are some good ones, but they all take a big chunk out of your points for the day so they'd better be worth it lol.
  • For everyone wondering, I had attempted to recreate the SO meatloaf.. my fave! It definitely did not turn out they way I had hoped.
