book recommendation

  • I'm wanting to start counting calories but really I need help! I just don't know where to start or either I'm making it harder than it is.
I've found alot of info on here but I'm more of a hands-on-book person. So is there a book ya'll would recommend on counting calories, the in's and out's, etc?

    Thanks!!
  • I'm sure there's one out there. I've never read one. LOL I use livestrong.com to track my daily intake.
  • Any diet/fitness book from a reputable trainer usually will give you the run down on the how-to.
  • Fortunately online calorie counters have really simplified the process! I didn't start out with a book or anything, I just signed up on a free website. Essentially you search, like you would with google, for a food and items popped up. Choose the one that best matches what you just ate, input the measurement (cups/oz) and click "enter". The counter adds it to your log. Keep doing that throughout the day and you'll get your total. Not unlike entering entries into a checkbook or accounting ledger.

There are a lot of other issues around it, how many calories one should be intaking, etc. Perhaps this is information you can get from a comprehensive book, but there are tons of online, free how-tos for calorie counting. It's a fairly easy process. Good luck!
  • I have found and used calorie counter websites-I use Sparkpeople.

What I'm wanting is a book on how to get started with a good calorie counting plan.

    Thanks.
  • Spark people has a book. Have you tried that? I think if you go to the library, some older weight loss books may be based on calories or do an amazon search.
  • Thanks. I'll have to look for it.
