I Ran

  • I just wanted to share my accomplisment with you guys. For the first time in years, yesterday I RAN, and I am doing it again today! It was only about a mile away, and I couldn't run more than so long without walking. But, I did it as best as I could and that is what matters. I'd like to do it today at the same time or a little better. I am so excited. My goal by the time I leave KY is to be able to run there and back without stopping or walking, and since I may be leaving next month, I'd better get started.
  • Congrats on running. I have to just recently started running and I love it. Ran my first mile last week. I never thought I would be able to do it but now I love it and do it every day. My body is feeling so much better and I am down 16lbs. Congrats again and you can do it further and further every time
  • Good for you! Those first few steps are by far the hardest! It only get easier from here. Every day you will be a little bit stronger. And there's nothing wrong with walking/running intervals. It builds muscles for endurance.
  • Thank you, guys. Running these past few days has been really cathardic. Every time I think I'm in physical discomfort (being sore, calves aching, stiches in side), I have to think about all the pain I have been in being an over weight young woman for six years. 23 is supposed to be great, and now, it will be because I'm losing this weight, doggone it!
  • Congratulations! You should be very proud of yourself! Taking those first steps is definitely hardest, but once you get going, it gets addictive. I agree, running is very therapeutic... it's always the first thing I want to do when I have a stressful day. And added bonus - it's cheaper than a therapist.
  • I cut about a minute off of my run time, and I can run for longer stints than I could before. I definitely had to push myself, but I have been doing great. I am so glad I started!
  • Congratulations. I'm not running yet, but hope to start this year.
  • Congratulation! you're gonna see that weight just fall off now! I started doing intervals last year and now can jog 2 mile Non-stop everyday! It's so liberating!
  • That's awesome, ladies! I am sure you'll see success with it, Eagle!

OnaMi, that's wonderful! My parents also started doing that, and now they just finished a half marathon not long ago. They were also very overweight, bigger than even I am, so it really helped them. The good thing about running, is you need neither equipment or money to do it. All you have to do, is go outside.
