Needing an extra boost

  • Hi! I was on the internet this morning looking for extra tips to help get my weight loss back on track and I stumbled upon this site. I'm not usually one to talk about myself, it tends to be a sore subject. But after reading the success stories and all the support, I decided maybe this is I what I need.
So I'm posting, hoping to get some advice and support. I have currently lost about 30 pounds, depending on the day =) I'm 5'6" and at my heaviest starting point I was 205 pounds. I'm down to around 175-180, the scale keeps going up and down the last month or two =(
I've kind of plateaued and haven't had any real changes or weight loss for two or three months now, and I'm so very discouraged. I don't know what else to do or what else to change. I'm feeling hopeless and I don't want to start gaining again. My goal is to get down to about 145-150. So I'm only half way there are extremely stuck.
I'm just looking for support and encouragement. Thanks to anybody who helps.
  • Welcome Monzy, Glad to have you join us. congrats on the weight you have lost so far. My advice is to look for a Support group, Chat, or Challange to join; small groups make it easier to get connected. Most sub-forums have groups covering almost every need, find one that inspires or motivates you and just post to join.
  • Welcome!

I suggest finding something new to be excited about, and focus on that more than the scale. When I get into a rut and am putting all of my energies into worrying about the scale it doesn't go down. But if I shift my focus into being really motivated about my plan and not so much the results I relax and soon enough the scale will start to drop again.

For example, how about finding a new workout that you can really get into? A lot of libraries have exercise dvds, and some equipment isn't that expensive at Walmart or Sports Authority (like resistance bands, or a stability ball). Getting something new like equipment, or even just a cheap but cute pair of exercise pants, often makes me excited to workout.

Or you could try to break out of your normal food choices and look for interesting, healthy foods you haven't tried yet and change up your eating patterns a little. (For example, I recently discovered jicama and I'm crazy about it.)

Good luck! I'm sure you'll find lots of great advice from the wonderful members here. =)
