Introduction/De-Lurk+Baby Steps

  • Hi! I've only recently singed up, and more recently begun to post. I am a teen who, with the help and support of my parents, is aiming to lose ~20lbs. Puberty started at age nine, I had little boobs at age ten and a few years later-I've outgrown the largest cup/smallest band that Victoria's Secret has to offer. I have some mental problems and non-nuclear family issues that I'd rather not talk about; but losing weight in a healthy and maintainable way will (hopefully) improve my self-esteem and mental health.

I'm beginning with baby steps. Lots of little, easily followed rules. My mental issues make counting calories, measuring food and fat/carbs/protein a sure-fire way to commence with an ED. Ergo, I plan to slowly make changes to my life.
-No sugar, artificial sweeteners, or white flour
-walk to and from school every day
    -start kickboxing or martial arts
    -drink more water and tea
    -don't snack when not hungry
-take smaller portions and stop when full
All of the above are, to me, both common sense and what I have not been doing. for my mental health, I shall not feel guilty about any food. I shall not deprive myself to the point of binging. I shall not hate myself as motivation.
I hope I will be welcome here.
    Sincerely,
    L. Esenin
  • Welcome! We are the same height and starting weight in our weight loss journey. You look like you have a healthy goal and healthy means of getting to where you want to go. Good for you and your parents for aiming to take control of your weight. It's good for your health and easier since your metabolism is still more on the friendly side

    Good luck!
  • Hey! I'm new here too! Kudos to you for taking steps toward a healthy life so early on!
  • Welcome and good luck !
  • Hi. You are on the right path. Just keep your body and your thinking healthy and you'll do fine. My issues started over 45 years ago when I weighed 102LBS and had a figure at 12...I thought that I was "fat" because hardly anyone else looked like me and my Mom was a serial dieter. We are all different. If you aim for health things will go easier. Sounds like you have an awesome plan!
    Welcome!
  • Thanks for the warm welcomes!
Tamsin78: A recent visit to the doctor informed me that I was 114 lbs at 12. Looking back, I see myself in ill-fitting, baggy clothes with awful posture that started age ten. Hindsight is 20/20, isn't it?
  • Good luck, and keep visiting it helps!!! Keep motivated!
  • thank you! I plan to continue visiting here, everyone is wonderful!
