a couple of you may have read my other thread about how i'm too inexperienced in my field find a job. well, recently, i found a job ad on craigslist that i technically may be qualified for if it weren't for my complete lack of experience. the position is also only temporary.

how would you word your "cover letter" (actually just a short e-mail i'd send along with my resume) to imply that you're willing to work for free without coming off as too desperate?

you could say something like 'i have been interested in (your field) for some time, and recently obtained (your qualifications). i am eager to experience this field, and would consider voluntary work in this position if available.'
im kind of in the same boat as you, lots of qualifications, but no experience. so i've worded many 'pleeeease hire me!!!' covering letters lol

be careful posting all your info on the craiglist jobs...some are scams to get your info

Are they asking for a volunteer or for an employee? Do NOT undervalue the worth of your time. If you want to volunteer to have something to put on your resume, call your local animal shelter, nursing home, hospital, etc. If you are looking for a job, expect to get paid. You will bring something of value to the job, so expect to get something of value back.

And be careful with Craigslist. Do not give personal info until you know the job is legit.

and yeah, i know there's a lot of scams on craigslist (i experienced something rather suspicious recently that i've been wanting to post here just in case), but i've since learned my lesson and only included my name, my e-mail, and my phone number. as for everything else on my resume, i don't think there's anything personal enough that people could do anything about it.
