Here Comes the (FAT) Bride

  • Help me, please!
I joined 3FC back in August, and between August to December I was SO GOOD and lost 35 pounds all on my own! I did great over the Holidays...but starting the new year has just been...rough.

I need some help to keep going. I'm getting married in t-minus 80 days (yes...I'm counting!). My wedding dress has been taken in 3 inches already, but that's not enough! I have much more to lose!

Really I need some help with my food intake. Any motivational speeches/pep talks/etc? Any sample diets?

    I'LL TAKE ANYTHING!
  • Why don't you post a typical day's food, how much water you drink, and any exercise you do? Don't worry--you will look beautiful no matter what!!!!
  • When I got married, I concentrated on the joy of the planning and each moment. It will be something you will remember the rest of your life. Please don't waste it by severe dieting and obsessing about the fit of your gown. These things are of little importance, what is important is the vows taken with your mate. No one but you will care what your weight it on that day.

What I did was take a deep breath and I quit dieting. Instead, I ate 3 balanced meals a day. I needed stability during the rush of emotions and the anxieties. If I had stressed to lose weight, I would not have been much thinner in reality. I was obese when I married and 10 or 20 pounds would not have made a difference in how my dress fit.

I am now having fun trying on my dress and taking pictures of how big it is on me! I recommend eating healthy and let go of dieting specifically for weight loss unless you can relax about it and not let it take on a life of it's own. Once everything settles down into a routine, you can spend the time working on your diet or lifestyle changes.

I wish you happiness in your marriage!
  • I was a fat bride, and you know what, it didn't make the day any less special. I echo the advice to take joy in the planning and the day and not stressing about dieting. That said, you can still adopt a health lifestyle now in hopes to shed a few along the way and use as a catalyst after the wedding.

Also, what will you do if you lose too much? They can only take those dresses in so much you know. And with only 80 days to go, well that's not a lot of time to get it altered.

Anywho, if you would like some more advice, please post what you're doing now. Kinda hard to tell you what to change if we don't know what you're doing. And maybe you don't need to change anything. You've already had it taken in 3 inches! You must be doing something right.
  • Just count your calories. 1500-1700 calories per day is great.
Anything you put in your mouth...write it down.
    It works for me.
  • What you eat is just as important as how many calories you eat. Concentrate on lean protein, whole grains, healthy oils, fruits and vegetables and fat free dairy products. Forget about while flour, sugar, white pasta. Have protein with every meal and snack - it is harder for you body to digest so keeps you feeling full and satisfied longer and takes more calories to process.
