I was a vegetarian when I was a teenager, gave it up, then started a strict vegan diet a few years ago. I gave that up after about a year and a half (I posted why in the pescetarian/vegan thread below), and now I'm just vegetarian. Sometimes I eat seafood. Yes I know it's meat, don't flame me. I just think it's healthy; I don't particularly like it.
I'm still a huge fan of vegan food. Isa Chandra Moskowitz's cookbooks are friggin awesome; even my carnivore husband will cook vegan recipes from her cookbooks sometimes, of his own accord!
I discovered the hard way that vegetarian/vegan does not automatically equal weight loss. :P In fact, I gained a bunch of weight eating vegan, and was always at my skinniest when I was eating a lot of meat. But, I don't really like it, and I can't not think about where it comes from. So there you go.
