Hello all,
I was wondering, are there actual stores where low carb products can be purchased, such as the Atkins Baking Mix.
Also, I've seen several recipes with sugar free ketcup. Is this something that is home made or is something that can be bought in the stores?

You can buy Atkins products at GNC stores.
You can make your own ketchup, there is a recipe in the low carb recipe section that looks good. In the stores, Estee brand has a sugar free ketchup, it's not bad, kind of vinegary. About 2.99 a bottle. Suzanne Somers makes a bunch of sugar free products. Her ketchup is very good, but very pricey too. SuzanneSomers.com is her website address.

I actually went to our local grocery store last night and found some of the Atkins products, very pricey. Will check out GNC to see how they match up.

They're expensive there too. You can also get them on line at www.atkinscenter.com. I haven't compared the prices, but then there's the s&h too. It's a good website for info and recipes, if you haven't been there. Here's a few others I like

it's just one person's opinion, but there's no real need for you to buy all these expensive atkins products in order to stay on the atkins program!

if you can stick to the basics, you won't need them. but if you're craving pancakes or something, well, that's a different story and you'll probably enjoy the baking mix.

but check out the recipes section of this lc forum for some ideas before you head for the atkins aisles.. nasus40 has posted a delicious-sounding ricotta pancake recipe. very high protein. low carb.

Jiffy's right. I guess I wasn't really paying attention. I don't use any of those products myself. I must admit, when I started I bought a bunch of stuff I thought I'd need, it's just sitting up in my cabinet, untouched. Most of the time, I just eat grilled meat and fresh or frozen low carb veggies for supper/lunch. Basically, just subtracting the high carb stuff, adding more low carb stuff.

This is only my first week, and it all seems like so much info to digest. Its nice to have a place to come and ask questions.

I have already spent a lot of time going through the recipes here and have found some great ones. I did purchase a sugar free ketcup from the store (mostly because I'm lazy and didn't want to make it myself). As for the baking mix I will most likely be purchasing that. Sweet cravings I can over come, but I really miss the soft textures of baked goods.
