  • Getting rid of old clothes. I'm sure many of you who just read that sentence cringed. I like so many others have been holding on to a couple of pairs of jeans that I wore two sizes ago. I've been through all the excuses. "They were expensive", "I had a hard time finding them", "What if I need them again?"

So, today I was putting away some laundry... and my drawers are all stuffed... I was running out of room and I remembered I still had these two pairs of jeans tucked away at the bottom of the drawer... just waiting for me to fail, gain 35 lbs back and wear them again. And that's when I said... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN...EVER. So, I took them out, threw them in a plastic bag, and they are now en route to a clothing drop.

I finally did it! I've been saying I would get rid of those jeans for months, but I haven't had the courage to do it. I do now. It's been over 6 months, over 35 lbs, hours upon hours of sweat, tears, and many days worth of sacrifices that I never thought I'd be able to make. The thought of being back where I was makes me sick. Starting all over.... it would kill me. So I won't. The jeans are gone, and the only way my weight will go from now on is down.

    Picture:

  • Good for you !
  • So inspiring! Keep up the good work!
  • Awesome!!
I threw away all my old clothes so that I know in my head if I ever gain weight again I am going to have to go back and buy bigger clothes so that motivates me to keep losing weight and not gain any back. There is only one pair of shorts that I kept from my highest weight for comparison reasons but other than that, everything else was donated or thrown away!
  • I like your attitude!

BTW, I keep my fat jeans..haha! I'm with the "ya never know" crew...but then again...I'm old and turning into my mother...can't seem to throw anything away!!!

  • I just put 4 of my baggiest sweaters into a box to take to the thrift store today.
And I really hate to do it.

I am wearing my favorite pink sweater with pink sequins now.
I can't part with it yet. That one will go at the end of this month.

After losing over 30 pounds, I looked like a walking tent in all of these. Oh, well....

Time to move on to the smaller sizes I have packed away.
    Nice, isn't it?

  • Way to go! BTW, you look great!
  • Great attitude and you look fantastic!
  • OHM GEE you look so tiny!! And i love your attitude about it all! COngrats on the success!!
  • You are doing amazing and look fabulous!! Keep it going and.....you so don't need those pants anymore!!

  • I threw everything away as soon as I "fit".....yes barely fit, into the next size down. I played the what if I need them game for far too long. I also threw out my scales because I was obsessed with a number to a point where I wouldn't eat if the scale told me a number I didn't like. Now I have a whole closet full of clothes that for the first time in my life...I like! My clothes are now my "scale". If they start to feel too tight then I know I need to make better food choices. I think you are doing the right thing by ridding yourself of things from your past! On to the future
  • you look fantastic! and yes, you will never need those jeans again!!
  • WTG! That is awesome, must feel so good to make room for new things!
  • Wow! You look fantastic.
  • You look soooo good. You're beautiful!
