Bad knees but want to run?

  • Hi ladies! I have always wanted to be a runner but I have always been overweight. I have done the Breast Cancer 3-day a couple of times and had minor knee problems. It seems like any time I try running my knees just don't cooperate and I end up back to walking. I have tried the Couch25K program 3 different times and could never get through it.

Does anyone have any advice or do I just need to give up on running and stick to walking? Thanks for the advice!
  • This may seem silly, but I find that the more I run and work my legs...the better my knees feel, eventually. Strenghening them seems to help. When I get into a workout rut and skip a week or so, I feel very week, and so do my knees...does this make sense. Of course everybody is different, but if you aren't seeing a doctor and don't feel like you need to, see what happens after more exercise...take it easy and see what exercises are best for your knee issues.
  • i wouldnt run AT ALL on MRC...... this is from personal experience....... too low cal, too low carb........ your body will get too stressed out, and yes, fatloss CAN halt if thaat occurs, amongst other, much worse medical things.

    JMHO
  • I'm shocked to see that running may not be recommended while on this program....running is such a great thing for your body, as well as any other physical activity. Exercise is the best medicine there is out there. I'm beginning to be happy that I switched to Metabalance.
