Impressed Myself

  • I took my three boys and one of their friends to McDonald's for dinner and play before Boy Scouts last night. Now, it was 6 o'clock, I hadn't eaten since noon, and knew I wouldn't be home until 8 p.m. I had to eat something......I ordered oatmeal. I was super impressed with me! LOL It was good, healthy, and held me over until I got home and could heat one of my homemade convenience meals.

What have you done to impress yourself lately?
  • Good for you! I'm impressed with you!
  • Good job!! I LOVE oatmeal and eat it practically daily. Fills you up and is yummy with fruit and nuts

Impress myself? Well, I've been really dedicated to my exercise routine these days!
  • Hmmm...what have I done to impress myself lately...

I am most impressed with my new-found ability to be more patient with the scale. I've been on my weight loss journey for a few years now, and when I would start a new plan, or method, or eating program, I would freak out after I saw a weight gain (which was probably just water weight) and then I would fall off the wagon altogether. Now, I am learning to tell myself that if I have gained weight in one day, it's not because I have eaten 7,000 calories to gain 2 pounds: it is just water weight and it will go away.
  • I impressed myself yesterday by actually going to the gym. Not that going in itself is impressive... I've actually been looking forward to it on most days!

BUT... yesterday I had an externship from 9-5 in downtown (Nashville) and we got a TON of snow which gridlocked the entire city! It took me two SOLID hours to drive the 3 miles home.

Needless to say, after two hours in ridiculous traffic the last thing I wanted to do was go to the gym (in my apartment complex, not driving in the snow). But I burnt off some steam by watching an episode of How I Met Your Mother, and got off my butt and did a great workout! :-)
  • Great job!
  • Great job!!

Let's see - I impressed myself day before yesterday when I was able to walk away from the delicious looking bakery cupcakes at work...and today when I avoided the catered Bertucci pastas lunch!! Talk about challenging!!
  • Good job!

I impressed myself this week at the amount of water I have been drinking lately. I have to admit I'm not a water person.
  • I did the SPLITS at my workout on Monday! My zumba instructor was stretching us out and since she's a dancer, she had us doing dancer stretches, and as a joke she told us to go down into the splits. Well, I thought I'd go down as far as I could, and I went all the way to the ground. I was pretty impressed with myself! She looked at me and clapped and said 'Did you think 60 days ago that you'd ever be able to do that?' and I laughed and said "I didn't think I could do it TODAY!"
