New to WW PP have question

  • Hi everyone! I am starting the new program on Friday 1/7/2011 on my own at home. I just recently graduated from college and am unemployed so I can't afford meetings. I bought a calculator on Ebay and have calculated the new points for the foods I eat regularly. The question I have is: what is the points value for turkey breast from the deli at the local grocery store? They have no nutritional value so I don't know how to calculate it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  • Hm. Do you request the leaner turkey? If its 98% fat free I think that you can search for it in eTools.

Its also possible that the deli has the nutritional information (on the big piece of turkey that they cut) and would be willing to give it to you
  • if you google "turkey breast nutritional information" that will bring up the protein, carb, fat, etc grams then you can figure it out.
  • in the companion guide it says Turkey deli-sliced 3/4 oz 0 ppv
so you're going to have to weigh 3/4 ouce to get a 0 ppv but if it'smore then that's a whole new ball game.

or go to sparkspeople or some internet thingy and put in Turkey Nutritional value. See if you can find the one you purchased, Boars head, Stop & Shop, Jenny O and see if you can find the NI for your brand.

I just cooked a turkey breast so I will be looking up under different values.
  • Thanks for all of the suggestions. I don't belong to WW online due to the cost but I do have a Sparkpeople account so I will try to enter the nutritional value and guestimate. I realize that joining WW is better but right now financially that is just not possible so I will do this for now. Thank you so much.
  • yes also you can find it at fitday.com or mydailyplate.com etc there are some great sites out there to get nutritional info I understand about the cost of ww, for some it's really hard to budget in but I think it's great you got the calculator and are ready to do it at home! I lost 70 lbs before doing ww at home several years ago so I know you can do it too!
  • This is going to sound silly but I ask to see the nutrition label on the back of the turkey they are slicing. I write it down and figure it out when I get home, turkey is usually 1 point per ounce =D
  • nothing silly in that. That's what we do.

heck people ask for their food to be cooked in olive oil and i've not had the gumption to do that yet.

    cause,I don't think I'd know if it wasn't.
