Question about menstrual weight gain

  • Those of you that gain weight during PMS or your period, when does it usually go away for you?
  • This varies all over the place. Mine goes away exactly 3 days after my period ends. Other people see different patterns. It's just water, though, and it WILL go away eventually.
  • Mine goes away 3-4 days and then I have a whoosh of more pounds. I quit fretting over the time I am on my period and just look forward tho the WHOOSH!
  • Mine definitely varies but I know on Sunday last weekend I was at 185 and by Saturday I was back down to 177 and that's held steady.
  • I can gain anywhere from 2-5 lbs while on my period (or, really, like a few days before it starts). Then it all goes away after 3-5 days, but sometimes longer. I can also usually expect a "whoosh" as well of about 2-4 lbs. It used to be more, but as I get smaller my whooshes also shrink.

If you're worried about gaining weight during your period, just make sure to stick to your food and exercise plans and don't worry about the water weight. It'll come off eventually.
  • Thanks everyone. I'm actually cool, calm, and collective, and had a great Weight Watchers week.
  • Period weight is one more little gift from our monthly friend!
