New to WW..but not to dieting.

  • Hey everyone...I joined this site a long time ago and kind of lurked around until now. I am at my all time highest weight ever...205 on a 5'3 frame...and I'm tired of looking and feeling like I'm a pound away from rolling away. =/

I decided to start the new WW program. I signed up for the free 7 day trial on their site and I really thought it was a bunch of hype, but I'm really considering getting the membership. I love how easy it is to use...and how accountable it makes you. (I sound like a commercial, I know..lol).

I have also ordered a calculator to make it easier for me when I shop or go out to eat. I stocked my fridge with fruits, veggies, salads, chicken, sf fat free jello, yogurt...all sorts of healthy foods and I'm ready to dive in this head first.

If anyone has an words of advice, tips, anything to share...I would really appreciate them. This is all brand new to me and I would love to learn as much as I cam.

Anyhow, enough rambling...I'm excited to be here and can't wait to meet you all.
  • Welcome!

The new WW program is great, at least I'm loving it. I had lost on the old plan, gained some back, and the new program was the kick I needed.

The calculator is a great tool, and tracking. Tracking is so important.

    Good luck!
  • Welcome!
I sound like a commercial when I talk about WW, too. But that's because I love it.
(Don't get too hooked on the fat free sugar free jello. It's nutritionally void. Choose fruit instead - it's free and whole and real food!)
  • Welcome!

Eat lots of fruit and veggies because they are 0 points on the new program.
I buy weight maitenance bread from Dempsters, and it is only 2 points for 2 slices. If you like bread, then watch what type of bread you are eating.

Don't guesstimate how many points are in a food. Everything on the new plan is different from the old plan. The calculator helps find that out. Eat lots of protein because it fills you up longer then carbs.
  • hi ready2bethin,
I was exactly like you and I decided to join Dec 12th 2010. I can tell you from someone who has done everything under the moon and was just ready to give up weightloss, WW has been Godsent. I really am enjoying the process, learning and most importantly I catch myself making good choices, that otherwise I would not have. I recommend the monthly pass, and though it's more expensive I decided to go full force! the accountability keeps me honest and motivated. Just when I want to fall of the wagon, it's time for a reality check w/ my weigh ins and motivational talk.. Deff recommend...
  • I do like the program and have done much better on the new Points Plus than the old program. I'm not sure exactly why (I'm not a big fruit eater) but it just seems to be easier to stick to.

I would say to be sure and calculate all the points, weigh/measure as needed and count every point. If you do activity estimate activity points on the low end. Experiment with Weekly Points. I used to eat most or all of my Weekly Points with the new plan I find I can be fine eating very few of them.

Some people can really eat all their Weekly points and still lose at a good rate. My experience is that usually tends to be the taller people. But you can experiment and see what works for you. If you are hungry and feel deprived then it isn't worth it to avoid eating weekly points.

Are you going to meetings or doing the program solely online?
