I think this might really be it, but I need accountability

  • I've come on here a few times saying, "Now I'm REALLY starting." But this time feels different. My dad passed away on Christmas, about six months after being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. It hurts so much, and I miss him like crazy all day long. One thing occurred to me, though — my dad was so proud when I was losing weight this summer, and I owe it to him to get healthy. He sacrificed so much to make me happy, but I can't be happy until I lose weight.

So...I decided to start a meal-delivery program. I'll figure out which one through this forum tonight and place my order. I've felt for a while that I really need the structure of a program like that, but I've always used money as an excuse. Now, I can easily afford it, and I think it's worth a try.

To all of you in here, please keep me accountable and kick my butt if I start whining! You ladies have helped so much, and you're the reason I've lost what little weight I have.
  • I look forward to reading of your success!
  • I'm so sorry to hear about your father's passing

Please keep posting during the up and down times. Whining is allowed, quitting isn't!
  • We're all here for you! Ditto what everyone else has said, keep posting here, even if it sounds like whining to you, we may be able to help
  • Your father would be so proud and i'm sure he's watching down cheering you on! Good Luck!
  • Hugs! I'm really sorry for your loss. It will be hard but so worth it at the end and just like you said, your father's biggest wish was for you to be happy and you will only be happy once you lose this weight. He is watching over you!
  • I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my wonderful Dad to pancreatic cancer in September; I know this must be a very hard time for you.

Good luck with the meal delivery service and keep us updated so we can cheer you on.
  • I'm really sorry to hear about your dad. It's wonderful that you want to honor him by getting healthier and losing weight! Good luck to you -- you can do it!
  • I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure your father would be proud of you choosing to make yourself healthier in his memory. That's really beautiful.

I did Jenny Craig a few years ago and it was great. We ran into some issues (the holidays, moving, etc) and fell away from doing it but it was great for us. It was a nice relief to just follow the program and not have to THINK. And the food wasn't bad. It's better than Lean Cuisine, at least!
  • i'm sorry for your loss. I too have recently decided that i am going to get off my butt and do something about this weight. we can do this together. We will whine, we will have good days and bad days but we will get through them. 2011 will be an awesome year for us!!!
  • I'm sorry that your father passed away. I think it's great that you're embarking on this to make yourself happy so he can be happy for you.

Good luck! Make the commitment to lose the weight and it will happen.
