Weigh at the same time?

  • Do you usually weigh in at the same time every time? I usually weigh in between breakfast and lunch but tomorrow I have to go in the afternoon. I am wondering if it is going to impact my numbers?
  • I try to weigh in and wear about the same type of clothes (in the morning after breakfast or before I eat lunch). My theory is that if I drink all my water and eat everything then yes I will weight more....
  • Your weight will fluctuate during the day. If I weigh in the morning at say, 180....it will be 182-184 at night...the water and food I ate during the day affects it.

Don't worry about it. If your weight is up because of time of day, thats not really a gain. So take it with a grain of salt and go at the same time next time for a more true reading. Don't stress over it.

The other day I had to weigh in at a different time and I wore jeans (which I NEVER do most days for weigh in ) and was 4 pounds up! I chalked it up to the changes and we will see the truth tomorrow for my more normal weigh in.
  • Hey ladies! I thought I would come and finalize my post here. I weighed in and I was actually down 1.5 lbs! I was able to weigh right before I would have eaten my lunch and made sure my bladder was completely empty. I am going to keep this in mind for future weigh-ins though.

    Thank you!
  • I normally go between bfast and lunch too and I usually wear a light sundress (well, for now anyway, since none of my jeans fit and it's been 100º+ for more than 50 days!) I usually loose, but I did have to go after work one day and it made me gain 3 pounds. Sure enough, I went back a few days later at my usual time and I had lost 4... so really, 1 pound. It does make a difference to me!
  • I weigh first thing in the morning - after I've used the bathroom and without any clothes on. You can't get any closer than that!
  • I was going in for weigh-ins twice a week, but recently decided to start going just once a week because I'm only able to go on Tuesday evenings after work (around 6pm) and early Saturdays, around 11am. I've always weighed a couple or more pounds in the evening than earlier in the day. I wasn't showing hardly any change at all (and a gain once) on Tuesday evenings. I'd rather go once a week and see a loss. Tuesdays were just discouraging me.
  • I weigh at home naked, after bathroom every morning. Those seem to be very accurate. For some a daily weigh is discouraging, but so far it has been good for me because I almost always see a small loss.

I also am consistent with my WI at the center-- after breakfast and only the HNS with breakfast, no extra water.

Ginpea-- I think if going once helps you, then it's good to do it that way, and don't let them give you a guilt trip about it. We all hold water the later in the day it gets, so you probably have lost since Saturday, but it doesn't show up. If you find it helps to talk to someone midweek, though, you could always go and just not WI. I like the time to refocus, personally, but not everyone is the same.
  • Weighing every day is discouraging for me. I prefer to weigh every other day and so far I haven't been disappointed.
  • I wigh in the gym in the evening around 6.00 p.m. I finish my 6 glasses of water at 3.30 p.m or so have my tea at 5.00 p.m. I weigh myself daily . The weight keeps on flutuating. But I know the trend. My trainer told me the weight fluctuates about 3lb during the day.
  • Eventually, I want my before bed WI to be my goal weight...then if it is less throughout the day, great!

I was told that WI in the afternoon once you have had water is the best. In the a.m. your body has retained some from not having any all night long. I am with all of you, though....very first thing in the morning naked is my lowest

I have been doing great this week until tonight...just had a cookie. I can't believe how weak I am sometimes.
