Why Hello There!

    I'm new here, and thought I'd tell you all a few things about myself
    I'm a freshman in College, and I absolutely love it! I'm making a lot of new friends and getting involved in a lot more things that I find interesting!
    I've been obese since the 5th grade, the product of essentially being forced to eat and eat by my mom's abusive ex-husband. By the time I hit 8th grade I was at 228lbs, and that scared me a lot. We moved to a new town, and I started walking a lot more. I average around 5 miles a day, and just last year I was diagnosed with type two diabetes. My goal is to get healthier, off my medication, and be able to buy the cute clothes that don't come in my current size. (That is one thing that REALLY frustrates me!)

  • Eek. I'm sorry you had to deal with an abusive stepdad; I've been there. I'm glad you're interested in getting healthy as a priority, rather than just getting "skinny." It makes me happy when people care about their health! We only have one body for life, so we best take care of it.

    Anyhow, welcome! I'm new as well, but it seems to be a very positive, enthusiastic environment here. I love the support.

    I've tried other sites that had more users around my age, but it was highly annoying. Most of the other users were just there to find support and cheap tricks to remain skinny while still being unhealthy.
    I found this site though, and the people here seem so much more genuine I'm really hopeful
